Any MB/MBA/MBP can be powered down or put into sleep mode on daily basis. No harm either way, strictly personally preference.

I never turn it off, only to sleep or reboot (boot camp/updates). The only time where I have it turned completely off was when I did hardware upgrades (Hard Drive)

Meh, I turn off my iBook G4 every night. If only because the sleep light prevents me from sleeping myself.;)

You can cover it easily ;)

Btw, i left my iBook on this night and when i woke it up, it was cold :) I rememberit was pretty hot when i put it to sleep ;) Yay, i will never shut it down ever again :)

With these new batteries you dont have to calibrate the batteries. PLuss he is probably always running on the magsafe anyways so the battery isnt in use.

The batteries do still need calibrating and it's advisable to run regularly on battery power alone if you want to prolong its life.

I also have an iBook G4 that I leave on ALL the time. I close it at night while I'm sleeping, and during any time that I'm not using it. But I think I can just about count the times I've restarted it over the years.
It won't overheat while it's sleeping, because it's not really doing anything processor intensive.
