I just bought a MacBook Pro and I feel having an iPhone will be amazing for the experience. I currently have a Nokia Lumia 1020 but I have the money for an iPhone 5S. Should I just wait till the next generation of iPhone? I could easily wait till the end of this year/early 2015.

Well, if you need two smartphones (like me), don't wait any longer and buy an iPhone.

Bit if you just need one, keep your money: you have a very good device, and you can wait until iPhone 6 will be released, most probably during the fall of 2014.

----------

texting and calling yes you are correct, but games and multitasking the 5s is a huge difference

As a former iPhone 5 user I can say it's totally wrong: I can't see any difference in real life usage.

----------

Mid-cycle purchases are tough, no question about it. If you need it now, then its a great phone, but if you can hold off, then that would be the best.

The problem with mid-cycle purchases is because Apple doesn't allow prices to drop a little bit over the time.

I've paid 729€ for my iPhone 5s in December (released at the end of October in Italy), at 650€ today it would be a better purchase.

----------

Why not get it now? It will get you off that shameful OS with no apps! Do it! If you get a contract does it matter if you wait a bit for the new iPhone? Also it will be ideal to test the water to see if you even like the iPhone!

You clearly don't know much about WP8, right ?

I recommend waiting. iphone 6 is likely to be released in less than six months. And hey if you don't like the new one, you can always get the 5s for $100 less

Are you on a contract?

It's up to you, it can be a risk, with it being a new device it will look differently then the 5s (hopefully) it all depends on how urgent you want it. If you can wait and don't like the iPhone 6 then you can always get a cheaper 5s, also how will the iPhone offer a better experience now you have a Mac? Mine do not integrate at all, I don't use things like calendar with Mac, just iPhone.

It all boils down to the fact will you enjoy the phone? Are there features on the newer model that you'd like to take advantage. At the very least you can always sell the 5S when the 6 hits the streets and thus mitigate a lot of the pain of paying for a new phone 6 months after the 5s

Haha had a couple of goes, it looks nice but many people I know have had WP and regretted it as their favourite/most used apps weren't available with any alternatives!

When I came over from android there was only one regular app that wasn't available on iPhone but I realised I could live without at the price of a better OS (in my opinion)

People you know ... So basically you don't know for sure but made assumptions ...

Well, situation for WP 8 apps is evolving and improving day after day. The store counts more than 200k apps ... You can hardly speak about "an operative system without apps"

extra display, more secure thanks to its touchID, and probably 4s will be the next 4 after iOS8 will be available and the award winner design of 2012

Apparently not a former '5s' user though eh? I've got both. There's a significant speed and performance difference between the two when it comes to gaming, multimedia manipulation (photos/videos/music), as well as an incredible 'touch ID' update with 7.1. My wife has the 5. Killer phone...it was mine. With both for six months used daily there's definitely a 'difference in real life usage'. Oh....of course, the fella you quoted DID mention unless you're using it as a phone/text/FB and email device.

WP8 apps suck. Period. The EcoSystem is an absolute joke...it's in shambles, developers aren't interested....Windows needs a new approach. While their cameras (on the Lumias) are phenomenal, the AppStore options....of those 200k, maybe a couple hundred are real, true and usable applications in every day life. A phone is too small to do my 'office' work on. For everything else, Windows needs to remember these are phones, small displays with a crap ton of speed and 'ability'. THEY need to attract the developers as they have in some cases with Xbox (that they continue to lose billions on). Sorry...but it seems you're the one with illusions of grandeur...not the dude you quoted

It's pointless buying any phone right now when the next iPhone is only about 6 months away. Even if you need a phone just go without and wait. You need the best and the latest. Always!

If you took ten seconds to read my signature you could have realized that I'm an iPhone 5s user right now, so I can say it Again: BS! in real life usage the speed difference is negligible ....

Says who ? You? Duly noted ...
Windows Ecosystem is improving quickly .... 2000 real usable apps ? Not true but they still are much more than typical 50 a real user needs
A small screen? Like Lumia 1320 or 1520 ? Give me a break ....
