Hi, yes it is possible as a lot have already said. I did it when I changed my email from hotmail to gmail.

iTunes isn't letting me change my current email (@gmail) to the new @me.com address we get when we set-up iOS 5.
Yeah, I ran in to the same problem.

I had my .me address and it was NOT associated with my itunes account. Evidently though a .me address automatically is an apple ID and you can't merge accounts.

I think you can have them delete your .me account and them move the account to the .me address (basically recreating it). Any stuff from your .me will be lost though.

I need some help on mine.

Okay I created my apple ID using hotmail account awhile back. I want to switch it to my gmail account. I change but I'm still getting reciept from iTunes in my hotmail instead of my gmail, when I buy an album.

So when you look at your iTunes account prefs, you don't see your old hotmail email anywhere but receipts are still going there? Look around in your iTunes prefs and make sure you've changed it not only as your id but as your contact email.

I had a situation where I had 2 iTunes accounts. One was info@mypersonaldomain and one was myname@mypersonaldomain. I decided it was time to merge them and apple said no. I think it is possible to log in to one account on my phone and restore all my apps, then log in as the other account and restore the handful of apps I bought under that account without having it wipe all the apps I bought as the first account. It's clunky but it might work. Hopefully Apple is working on a better way to manage this in the future...

This is a bit off-topic, but I figure it could be related enough that it's worth posting in this thread. One of my Apple ID is using a @live.com address. It's currently associated with the Canadian iTunes store. Is there any way for me to change it to the US iTunes store? FYI, I do have a valid US credit card and address to use.

Can someone answer my questions above please?

From what I know, if you have an AppleID that is an email address other than a .me address you can change the AppleID. So I've got an AppleID that is user@domain.com, I can change the AppleID to user@gmail.com if I want to by logging in. I just did this today as I'm moving and my AppleID was my ISP email address which I'll no longer have.

I also have a Mobile Me account, so I've got an AppleID from that, that is user@me.com, as far as I can tell that AppleID can not be changed. You can add a secondary email to it so you can receive mail to another address if you need to, but that AppleID will always be the same.

With the new iCloud change I also found that you can not change an existing AppleID to an iCloud address. So, I can't change the email on my primary AppleID to user@me.com. Not sure how Apple is going to handle this, since they want everyone to make a .me address as an AppleID. Unless they make you able to merge AppleID's there's going to be a lot of people with multiple ones. One for iCloud and one for iTunes stuff.

Sorry if this sounds a little it like charging the subject, but I have a valid question along these lines and topic...

I registered my mac.com address in 2000 right after the keynote when Steve introduced the free mac.com service. I have been paying the yearly fee since then, basically to keep my mac.com e-mail address, which is very unique. Now that Apple is discontinuing MobileMe and going to iCloud, will I be able to keep my "name@mac.com" address or will I have to use the new me.com as my e-mail. I sent an e-mail to sjobs@apple.com, but have not received any reply to my question. Thanks!

There hasn't been an official word regarding this particular matter, but I'm 99% sure blahblahblah@mac.com email addresses will continue to work for as long as Apple Inc. exist. ;)
