Yes I was aware of that. I am asking because of the video showing this done on an ATV2 without SHSH blobs. Just asking if anyone tried that method.
The Apple TV 2 and the first generation of the ATV 3 can be downgraded without blobs. Apple is still signing ATV software 6.1.4.
Download 6.2 to 5.3 on Windows
I have successfully downgraded from ATV2 6.2 to 5.3 using Windows 7 without SHSH blobs.
Follow the previous instructions in this thread with the addition of one extra step.
Extra Step:
After you download the version of the operating system you want to downgrade to. Rename the file extension from .zip to .ipsw
When you browse for it, it now has the correct extension and will appear on your list.
I was also able to jailbreak it successfully.

I have an ATV 3,1 with the last firmware (7)and using this guide I can't downgrade to 6.2.
With this firmware i have a lot of problems with spotify and airplay. In fact, during the streaming audio, when the iPhone (or iPad - both with iOS8.1.1) switches to standby the music stops.
For the first time I'm thinking about jailbrake the apple tv. I'm really tired.

No idea what SHSH blobs are but I did just google the term. I am now on 5.2 but what about the original YouTube app ? No way to get it back ?
As per my post on another thread, I have just downgraded my ATV2 from 6.2 to 5.3 and its running smooth as silk. My brief instructions are below. I have only done this once and am writing the instructions from memory, but hopefully I havent missed anything out.
- Goto http://ipswdownloader.com/download-apple-tv-ipsw-files.php and choose your the correct v5.3 for your ATV e.g. ATV3 or ATV2
- Plug your ATV into your MAC via USB (for ATV3 you will need to use the power lead too)
- ATV will appear in iTunes asking if you want to restore to factory settings.
- When you see the box saying download and install, hold down the option key first. You will then get the option to navigate to your previousley downloaded firmware.
- Once you have selected the firmware the downgrade should only take about 5 mins to complete. At the end it will say your box can be unplugged.
- Plug back into your TV, run the setup programe and you should have a judder free ATV once again.
Hopefully I haven't missed anything out.
Nothing shows up in my iTunes when I plug in the Apple TV
I did it a few hour before Apple stoped signing the previous version. I was really lucky. I only did it because the Beamer app could not connect when running the latest version. Four days later Beaner came with an update but I do not intent to install a new version of AppleTv os ever again because I never watch any tv channels, I’m only streaming stuff I have on my HD.
