I am actually surprised how much I am still using my rMini after getting my 6+. For me, they are not redundant and I (so far) am planning to keep my Mini along side my new 6+.
Landscape on the 6+ is still too cramped. I still prefer doing mail and a few other small tasks on my mini. And I much prefer it for the main game I play, Samurai Seige. Hopefully Notability gets updated for the 6+ specifically, but the rMini is still far better for that as well.
----------
The whole RAM thing doesn't bother me and I hardly think my rMini is obsolete. It is running iOS 8 very well and if there is any reloading or such because of RAM, I don't notice it.
I wish my mini had Touch ID though. The wife has been talking about getting an iPad, so maybe we can work out a deal.

I wouldn't buy an iPad until they have at least 2GB of RAM. They're all ripe for an upgrade and everything on the shelves is obsolete.
