Open Terminal:
Code:
ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayEDID | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

I tried running this code on my 13" rMBP it did not give anything ? is this supposed to work on all models of MBP ?

Discrete GPU only.

Anyway no need to check for 13". The consensus is that all are LGs (image retention?).

Yes! My screen for instance is only 13.2" when I measure it, where is the missing 0.1"....:roll eyes: :)

That defiantly warrants a return right there. I mean for your $1,500+ machine you should have that extra 0.1 inch, right?

Don't tell me consensus show me data show me fact. So I wanna see the actual fact

It is easy. Buy something like this

You are going off topic now, you said it is consensus !! Who ? you carried out that survey and asked everyone...when everyone here is posting what they see running that command...what the bloody hell consensus has got to do here it has to depend on real data, facts not your innocent sweet feeling !! isn't it ??

Keep cool. :)

In fact the determination of the brand from the terminal command is also a speculation.

It's always been safe. Exchanges are wonderful or Apple care for screen replacements. :p

Exchange 4x and you'll be about 1-1.5 months without doing anything productive with your laptop. If you bought a rMBP looking for a toy, well, you're fine.

What size do you plan on going 13" or 15"? From reading it seems the 13 all have LG, I just returned a 13" rMBP which suffered from bad IR and decided to wait a bit longer. A buddy of mine has the 13" rMBP and doesn't have any IR at all.

The 15" looks like a different story, yellow tint and or IR depending on the panel.

I want my first Mac, but I'm scared. Should I wait for the refresh? Not sure if I can wait that long.

No, if you want it now, get it now. You have very good odds of getting a good display and if you don't it's quite painless to exchange it.

Yeah. Mabye it's just these threads. Reminds me of the AVSForums complaining about ''buzz'' problems with Panasonic problems.

Think there's any chance of a Feb/Mar refresh?:)

Not a major one, maybe a very small CPU clock boost, but not a full refresh.

I'm hoping there is a tiny refresh so I can buy a Late 2013 MBP for less than what it is today.
