I heard it is safe but I thought it's only safe when plugged via MagSafe which was removed.
 
It's absolutely fine. The idea of overcharging a battery is a myth, as is draining a battery or cycling it to keep its health in good shape.

Batteries are consumable items. Ultimately they will eventually wear regardless of their usage. Just use your MacBook as best suits you. :)

I leave my 2015 MBP 15" plugged in 24x7. Only unplug it every once every two weeks and use it on battery to "exercise" the battery. Charge it back up and go another two weeks. Never had an issue, and it's always held a strong, 9-10 charge.

Please download coconutbattery and post the design capacity vs full charge capacity. I'm curious how worn your 3 year old MacBook is by leaving it plugged in all the time
