so i clone it using time machine orrrrr whatt?

Timemachine only backups up the essentials, you can't restore the os from one only your apps and docs etc. Use a program called Carbon Cloner. That will clone ever thing it will make th external drive bootable.

Why are you so worried about this anyway? Its not like you spent the money for Final Cut Pro...

Im sure even if you did send it in and they sent it back formatted, you would just redownload the software.

I just dont understand your issue.

errr thats the point. you know how long those download........

So you had a part replaced that was not related to the hard drive and they wiped your hdd? That is BS, i would have complained about that. Even though you did your backup, the average user wouldn't think twice of doing that. They send there machine in comes back wiped.

Do they have the right to wipe machines without advising the customer?
I think they warn you beforehand to backup your data. In any case, it is easier to diagnose a computer if you have a freshly installed OS, so that you don't have to chase the many possibilities of accidentally deleted system files, corrupt drivers etc.

your telling me y never used limewire

I'm not about to start moralizing on your choice of software distribution, but not everyone torrents all their stuff - personally I have never installed or used any torrent software on any of my machines. I also block all the torrent tracker sites through the router and OpenDNS so I can be fairly sure no-one else in the house (or anyone who manages to leech the WiFi) is using torrents either.

WHAT IS MORAL TELL ME?

Morality is giving people what they are due.

In this case, software designers are due your money for their software. Laws in this regard are created to make sure that people get what they are due. Enjoy your punishment should you ever be found out. It is not my place to judge you further, only I hope that you get what you are due.

You can. I don't. I just used Carbon Copy Cloner and cloned a fresh, fully configured installation over to a backup partition on the internal drive and a backup partition on the external drive.

It's not difficult. Just time-consuming.
