I just bought myself an 8GB G.Skill stick of RAM too. The same thing is happening to me! I am getting a Kernal Panic when I try to use certain applications/software. I am running a 2011 iMac 21.5" with OSX10.6.8.
I haven't tried out all my software yet, But so far it has crashed once with Photoshopped after working for about 5 minutes (causing me to lose my work) and it crashes EVERY TIME upon opening uTorrent. I am a video editor and I mainly work for long hours in editing software, I haven't tested those out yet but I have a feeling they will crash too. I'm really pissed off about this! I bought the RAM for $75, thought it was a bargain! Guess you can't go for the cheap stuff!

I'm thinking instead I might buy Corsair RAM. Can anyone recommend Corsair?

I have a stick of Gskill in mine but its 1066Mhz you need to get that type of RAM and it has to be low density.

Both G.Skill and Corsair generally make decent RAM, but every manufacturer releases bad sticks into the wild occasionally. Thus you always need to buy from a seller that will allow you to return it sans fees and test it with memtest when you install it. You also need to run memtest for at least 2 loops.

It seems that to have 1066Mhz it has to be a 4Gb stick. Is that what you mean by low density?
If I installed 2 more 4Gb sticks I'd just buy the official one's. The only reason I bought third party was because I wanted 8Gb sticks.
I do a lot of video editing with Final Cut Pro, After Effects and a few other applications so I wanted a LOT of RAM.
I currently have the 2 default manufacturer 4Gb sticks in and I want to install 2 8Gb sticks on top of that.
I think I'll just have to try out some different brands and make sure if they don't work I can get my money back.
Thanks for your input guys. I'll get back to you on what works for me and what doesn't.

•LOW DENSITY modules have 100% compatibility with ALL systems and ALL chipsets.
•HIGH DENSITY modules only have 10% compatibility and are VERY SLOW.

The timing on the RAM will be different on the High density type even though it would be clocked 1066mhz. Low density is better and is very compatible even with older systems.

I don't understand! The default/stock RAM sticks that came in my iMac and have worked perfect for me this whole time are 1333Mhz. So why would I have to get 1066Mhz??

Also just an update. I returned the G.Skill 8GB stick and got my money back then bought 2 Corsair 8GB sticks. I thought maybe the reason for my Kernal Panics could have been the brand, Maybe the fact that I had an odd amount of sticks of RAM in there so now I have 4 sticks all together (2x2GB default/stock iMac & 2x8GB Corsair - 20GB in total) and at first it seemed to be working fine but again when I tried using the same programs that caused the crashes before...Still causing Kernal Panics!! Still crashing!! The applications/Programs that crash work fine when I just use my default RAM alone though. I don't understand this at all!!!

Oh my bad yours is 1333mhz RAM, its probably still high density RAM.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_kw=4GB+KIT+DDR3+1333MHZ+PC3+10600+2X2GB+LOW+DENSITY+SODIMM I don't know if they allow links like this here.

Thanks for the link, But I'm in Australia so it would cost double the price of the actual items in that link just to send it here. I have tried 2 brands from eBay now anyways. I am going to try one last thing. I am going to save my money up to purchase some official mac RAM off the website. Although they are expensive, They hopefully should work! If that doesn't work, Then it means it has to be something in my computer and not the RAM itself so I will have to take it into Apple and get it fixed up somehow!
