If you're a student, you probably shouldn't worry about it. If you were working with super heavy models in rhino, it would likely require a desktop or workstation. I'm not sure why the use of keyshot and rhino for graphic design. It seems weird to me using a CAD nurbs modeler for your area of study.

Oh no, like I said, I myself only use Lightroom 4, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I have never touched those other apps. I was only asking (since OP does use them), if they required a good GPU, cause I do know that they render 3D graphics and are pretty heavy programs.

I must have misread. Lightroom 4 doesn't do much with the gpu at all. Photoshop is heavily memory bound. You can read up about how it uses the gpu and requirements. It's not something to worry too much on. If you're buying a comp with integrated graphics, go for 8GB of ram. This will bring you up to recommended vram and ram as per system requirements for PS and illustrator.

I can't think of a good reason not to buy it. You are in a situation in which it is a clear choice. There is no way you should keep your broken computer throughout your senior year, you need a functional computer to do your work and get a job. And your work is one of the few that will take advantage of the rMBP fully, especially since Adobe just announced the new softwares for the rMBP. Definitely buy it. There will be issues with the update too; there are always issues. Not a good reason not to buy, and the people with issues you see on macrumors are a VERY SMALL subset of the rMBP owning population.
