Very true. I was once told a story about Bill Vuckovich. He wasn't driving with his usual style until, during a pit stop, he grabbed a hammer and banged up a fender. After that, he was much faster. Later, he said he was concentrating too much on not damaging a new car instead of on winning the race.

I baby my laptop, but that doesn't mean I don't use it. I think there's a balancing act. When I sell my laptops, the buyers are amazed I kept it in great condition. I go out of my way to protect it, but I still use it.

Try guilt: think of those poor Foxconn employees who will have to jump out of windows because of the pressure to build your MBP to such perfectionist standards

Think of it as cutting them some slack; they need it.
