iPhone X Is it worth buying the iPhone X now?

I'm a little bummed my work's yet to include the X in its staff plans.
As it stands, I may skip the X (unthinkable a year ago), as I've already missed 3 months of its use.
4 months may be my limit....hurry up, #1 telco in my country!!!!

All of this debating is pointless - the original poster said he/she wants a Plus iPhone X. They are going to release one this fall. Wait until then, then buy

If I had a dollar for every time someone asks buy now or wait for the next one, I’d never have to pay for a phone.

I'm happy with the X but I agree with you on the price. Because of the OLED not being completely utilized along with other things, software wise, the price should be dropped.
It should be:
64 GB: $869
256 GB: $989

Are we now to the point with phones where 15 seconds after it's released it's best to wait for the next because you know, it's only 11 months, 29 days, 23 hours and 45 seconds away. LOL

My enduring philosophy with iPhones is this: If you’re going to buy the newest model, buy it on day one-or as soon after as you can.
That only if it’s important for you to have the latest and greatest for the longest amount of time. Plus resale value. I never buy mid-cycle. It’s just not sensible with the price structure that Apple uses.
I did get burned on the IPad 3 though. Still irks me.

At least on a tech forum, some might make the argument they don't purchase Day One devices because they want to avoid the most common manufacturing defects with the first batch iPhones. Of course there is no verified data proving anything about what is a widespread defect or not, but some wait it out when manufacturing slows down, to get a device that may or may not have issues that some of the first iPhones did it when they launched.

It's more that if you're going to spend a lot on a phone, you want maximum possible usage out of it before it's superceded.
The most I've waited is 2 months from release. Getting on 4 months now for the X. That's a quarter of a year. & for a phone that's intended to be used for at least 2 years, now it becomes a decision to grab a 4 month old phone or wait 8 months & hold onto that updated model for at least 2 years instead.
Resurrecting this old thread. I had 7 plus for almost 2 years. Almost Paid off. Recently my battery started to discharge very fast. So I start looking at iPhone X. I would not mind having a smaller size phone, as

It depends on if you need a phone now. If you need/want a phone now and won't mind that in only 2 months time a better version of your phone is gonna come out then get it now. However if having the latest and greatest bothers you then wait for the new iPhones in September.
There's always going to be something better. Always. If you need a new phone and find what's out there appealing, go for it. The iPhone X will not magically become a bad phone after September.
That’s true, though I would question whether at this point in time if the iPhone X is still worth the minimum $999 price tag.
The iPhone X will be a solid phone even after the 2018 models debut in less than 2 months, but in my opinion I’d only recommend buying the phone at a discount.

True. Although there are deals popping up. Last week, Target offered a $100 gift card for buying one. A couple weeks ago, Best Buy offered a discount. I haven't seen anything this week, but it seems like deals like that have been popping up more frequently.

Locally, phones get discounts leading into launch. Sometimes heavily discounted. With hardware so good now it almost begs the question of why you’d buy he latest release unless you’re flush with cash.

To me, Its Probably not worth the full price tag at this point, especially given that it’s rumored Apple is going to be lowering the price of the 2018 iPhone X starting from $999 With decease to $899 for the 5.8 model.

If your have a functional phone right now, then I’d wait since your so close to next release.
If your without a phone, then there’s no feeling remorse’s buying an amazingly top of the line “over built” X now.
The newer phones won’t be as high priced while cutting manufacturing costs. So if you don’t need a phone now you’ll be paying less if you wait.
The only difference is some parts won’t be as “premium” in my own opinion, like a plastic SIMS holder rather than a durable metal one like in the X now.
Other ways Apple will save will be going with LG displays over Samsung’s at lower cost per unit.
The X is the new standard moving forward so it won’t be “dated” like the 8’s and below are with a home button.
If your without a phone, then there’s no feeling remorse’s buying an amazingly top of the line “over built” X now.

I'm not sure I'll replace my iPhone X; I only bought it in January and it's been fantastic, easily the best phone I've ever had.

My 8 feels dated already and I've barely used it. Probably my worst purchase, not that it isn't a great iPhone; but the fact that I couldn't wait the extra 2 months or so to buy the X. So for the past 9 months I've been running 2 iPhones (the X is much better) and the occasional android. The 8 was really an impulse buy - I could easily have gotten by on my iPhone 7 until the X vas available to buy.

Outstanding post. I’m curious to see how LG displays compare to Samsung’s, which I’m inclined to purchase the 6.5 iPhone X this year. Another thing with Lowering costs, is once technology has the opportunity to mature and Apple has ample components for the hardware, it’s usually typical hardware starts to slowly decrease in price. LG OLED TVs are good example of this, when they first were on the market, they were marked very high with inflation and they are slowly decreasing in price in retailers around me.

I'm in a similar boat with my 6s. Battery life is getting short. I decided to just buy an Apple battery case, which solved the issue enough where I can now wait until the new phones are released to replace it.
