I currently have a iPhone 7 Plus (black), bought it when it first came out. I want a "plus version" of the iPhone X (hopefully Apple releases one this year).

But I'm thinking this..

Should I wait for the new "plus version (even though it's not 100% confirmed, but is most likely to come out in September)" or should I just buy the iPhone X now and regret later :(?

Undoubtedly, there will be a 6.5 iPhone X Plus likely being released somewhere between September and November. It's only expected for Apple to expand the iPhone X lineup and it's also been predicted by Ming Kuo.

If you really want the iPhone X now, you could purchase it and then sell it later on and then upgrade to the iPhone X Plus if that financially fits your situation.

Buy it now. It was just released. If there is a Plus version, it likely will be an extra $150

Mm.

Exactly it was just released. But the first release of something is always trash in Apples eyes, and will always be improved the year after or so. Smart techniques.

I usually like upgrading every two years. So say if I buy the current Iphone X .. and the Iphone "11" comes out. And imagine if they release the "small" size the first year. Oh boy.

New tech to keep up with. Hahaha.

My only complaints with the X could be addressed via software / firmware.

1. After faceID unlock right to the home screen = no need to swip up
2. No need to press and hold to kill apps.

The X's hardware has been rock solid for me. faceID works 95% of the time for me even when wearing my reading glasses or my sunglasses.

I would not call 1st gen Apple products trash. Apple, Samsung, LG, ect all improve their devices every year. You can get into a never ending waiting game if you don't want to upgrade yearly. As the X stands now, I don't see any reason to pass on it unless you really, really, really just want a plus sized version of it.

True, true.

But also if I upgrade to the "iPhone X Plus". Then I'll wait for the next two years to upgrade... meaning I'll get the "iPhone 11 Plus" and not the regular "iPhone 11".

Gotta play Apple's game correctly.

At this point, if you aren’t sure, then don’t buy the X.

To me it’s always been a beta device that doesn’t have the innovation to justify its $1000 tag.

What innovation would you like to see? At this point there is not much that can be done to any phone innovation wise. We've reached critical mass...

Is the phone worth 1K? Maybe to some it is and some it's not. I personally think it's about $100 overpriced but that didn't stop me from buying it.

From what I've read - the people who don't have it criticize it but the people who actually do have it appear to be happy with it.

Upgraded from SE to X. Ok, cool new screen. FaceID works very smoothly, except of problems with helmet on when riding motor-bike. +1 for TouchID to not remove the helmet. Performance - yeah, but it doesn't bother me, SE was even fast. I'm not playing any games on my phones, so it wouldn't really matter. Wasn't the best idea to upgrade, maybe could have better spent it on vacation...

Upgraded from SE? Okay that I understand, but from a iPhone 7 Plus..

Price tag: 1K. Maybe in a year.

Running an iPhone with unsupported upgrades like iPhone 5 may be an reason to upgrade. I regret it change my good old SE. For me it's just the Display, FaceID - where TouchID was even really good and mostly better/faster and QI - but my old SE was modded to be charged by QI.

Yeah I know - faster, better - better what? Faster? Ok, but I won't recognize that 0,32ms to start an app... Do you buy every new year a new computer? ah sorry, you need to buy every month with every new CPU which'll make everything faster.

Nice gadget - yes!
Need to upgrade from < iphone 6? - No

From iPhone (Classic) till 6+ got every new iPhone...
Classic: First iPhone, really Cool
3G: Yay, 3G network in Europe!
3GS: Voice Control more 3G Speed (used for tethering)
4: wow, brilliant Display (Retina), new Design
4S: Siri, woow, cool - still using it daily in my car
5: New Design, LTE (used for tethering)
5s: More LTE Bands, TouchID (!!!)
6+: New Design, Bigger Screen, much batterie lifetime
SE: Smaller layout, all features compared to 6(+)

After that... hm okay, faster, better (in something I couldn't recognize), faster and faster. Ok! No reason for upgrading.

X - ok let's try - FaceID - ok. Fullscreen Display is cool. The biggest feature - native QI for me. Hasn't been worth to upgrade for me.

Right on spot. Ever since the 6, all it's been about is speed, speed and speed!!

It's very hard for someone that isn't all that techy to find a reason why to upgrade. Jesus.

Trash in Apple's eyes? Not even close.

If you have to make a thread seeking validation about a purchase, that should be a big red flag for you to either learn to do your own research and make decisions on your own, or to not make a purchase because it is not in your best financial interest at this point in time.

Very trash, indeed.

Can guarantee you that if Apple sold the iPhone X without the Face ID. Many would still be the very first in line.

First year: Sell without Face ID.
Year after: Let's just make it a bit better, lets add Face ID.

We read that post differently.. To me it's a very incomplete and one sided post. He/she listed all the previous phones and what they offered in term of improvements and upgrades then for the X simply lists the new screen and speed.
  1. Every iPhone, or competitor phone for that matter, offers speed increases on a yearly basis. If they never upped the processors we would still be stuck using flip phone CPU's..
  2. What was left out of that post?
  • New design (he mentioned that for the previous iPhone design changes but conveniently left it out for the X
  • New faceID. It's Apple's future and I like it better than having the home button.
  • New OLED screen. A 1st for Apple
  • New gesture controls.
Like I said we read his/her post differently. I instantly read ONE-SIDED and moved along..

Lets take a second to analyze it.

He/she said: (red = my comments)

Never used one have you? The X is great and I firmly believe that most of the hate is from people who have not used it other than maybe a few seconds in a store.

Looks to me like you made the thread to troll, if you already had your mind made up. Not wasting my time with it anymore.

Oh, that's a fact that I didn't see yet. OLED - yeah sure, but still see any difference. The + for the display resulted more to the full screen display. But yeah, to be fair and get up on that list:
- new design (great)
- qi charging (great)
- faceid (equal to touchid)
- oled (for ME nothing to see)
- gestures (usage with one hand may be difficult)
- speed

=> new design, qi, full screen display. qi can be easily modded to older phones.

I won't say X is bad or sth. else, it's a really great phone - but coming from an actual iphone lineup you should really need a reason to upgrade... But a + for X - the battery is reaaaaly great - where my 6+ or SE run 1 day my X runs 2 or 3 days with same usage. So if I would still be on pager duty THIS would be the reason.

Nothing wrong with that.. To me the Plus phones are a non starter because I don't dig ginormous phones but I don't run around posting in Plus threads and putting the phone down either. Those who have the Plus appear to dig it so good for them..

The X can't win with haters. It's either the price, faceID, the notch, this, that, or the other they bad on. Well, if people want to keep using new iPhones they'd better get use to all of those as faceID is going nowhere, the prices will only increase unless Apple makes a budget version (then people will complain about it) and the notch is not going away anytime soon..

If people think the X is expensive then they better be ready for serious sticker shock in Sept if Apple announces a X Plus variant..

It's only worth buying a new phone within 4 months after release. After that just wait 8 months. Even if it breaks. Just wait.

I think this post describes that you don't understand the progression of technology and what goes behind the scenes when it comes to making refinements and making something better. Unless you're an Apple engineer that can attest otherwise?
