Is it worth getting an iPhone if you have no friends?

Thanks :)

I dont think windows has tinder yet :(

But iOS does :)

Most people only have a small handful of actual friends. Everyone else is an acquaintance. You're good. :)

Here is my reply OP..

69 years old, friends are around same age, few younger with smartphones.
I make few calls, use my computer (both notebook and desktop) lots....

I bought the iPhone 5S, played with it for 7 months, using SIRI a bit, she was off many times, used the weather app some but that got old. Played with the GPS a little but my car has one built in, and the screen was too small on the iPhone. Did not play music, not a kid that needs tons of music stored and many times never played again. I have a stereo for great sounding music at home. Using the iPhone camera was about the nicest thing to have.

7 months later, I sold the iPhone 5S, did not have to pay the ETF (Now one does) at Verizon, got a good flip phone and saved lots of money. I'm a happy camper now. Didn't really need a Smartphone, but heck, I have the money and wanted to try it out, but it was not for me. Waste of money ;)

That is my take. Others have different needs.

I've never really had a iPhone before, so I'll buy it i guess, just to see what its like. Thanks for the input. :D

There are lots of uses for a smartphone besides keeping in touch with friends. 3.5 is not bad :)

I think the better solution would be to make new friends...Preferably uber-rich and have them buy an iPhone for you...

Heck make it 2...You never know when you may drop one right?

Pretty much with this. It's nigh on impossible to have a large amount of friends without them being close to you, especially as life goes on. 3-4 good friends is normal.

I'll be your friend, bro!

Seriously, tho.. that's kinda sad. :(

On topic, I think the iPhone would still be very useful even without an active social life. (Mine isn't that active unless you include driving my kids to playdates!) Directions, camera, news, business reviews.. the list goes on and on. Mobile internet in your pocket. Couldn't live without mine now.

Wish you the best, man.

You can be friends with the "try it out give it a chance" guy in the other stupid thread.

I find texting annoying on the "compact" screen of the iPhone, so having no friends is actually a plus.

Don't worry about it. I'm very introverted, so I don't really need the company of others to be happy. It's a bit wierd, I know but it doesn't really bother me.

so I was thinking of getting the new iPhone but have no friends, is it still worth it?

Sure. The iPhone is a great device that is used for communication. It is not necessary to have friends to communicate, you just found that out by joining the crew here at MacRumors.
If you want a phone to make phone calls with, buy anything, but if you want a phone that does much more, then get an iPhone.

Arn't friends on MacRumors real friends then?

My wife is my best friend, but as she uses a mobile from the 90's and rarely ever has the thing switched on, it's not been that much use having an iPhone.
I bought her an iPad so at least I can communicate with her now when I'm off somewhere as she is never off the thing.
Mostly I use it for this forum, news and sports, games and music.

I'd say so. If nothing else, the vast amount of social apps could help you in that department if you utilise them correctly. You'd be surprised how many people are in the same boat as you.

The media always portrays the perfect life with as someone who's successful at work, in a healthy relationship, with many good looking friends and a closer group of lifetime friends. Nothing is further from the truth. I have seen people who seemed to have picture perfect life fall into depression and almost reach the end.

On the other hand I know people who've had a 'limited' social life but they are as happy as can be.

To each his own, live your life the way you want to. Do what makes you happy

I'm glad to have the three friends who care about me than have 50 friends who don't give a *******. Sorry for the profanity. Just get the phone.

Don't get one.

The iOS 8 multitasking menu will just remind you that you have no friends.
