I've kept my first gen iPad because shelling out another huge chunk of $$ for a thinner, somewhat faster iPad 2 with crappy cameras just didn't seem worth it. I'm convinced the iPad 3 is going to be a big step up in terms of performance and features so I'm holding out.

Nothing "wrong" whatsoever with staying committed to the 1st gen iPad. If you are satisfied with it....enjoy!

Is it 'wrong' to stay committed to the first genration Ipad?

It depends. How long have you been together?

I bought the first iPad last year planning to keep it for two years before upgrading. And I'm sticking to that plan.

Simple as that. Yes I have the urge for new toys, but I keep reminding myself that my iPhone 3GS is due for an upgrade this year, so that'll do.

I had a 32GB first gen wifi from Verizon for $399 a month ago.

Loved it but wondered if the grass was greener with the new model. I also had the incase book jacket which functionality wise was great but too thick.

I sold it on CL for the same price I got it for and got lucky getting a 16GB black from the Apple Store in Fort Lauderdale at Galleria Mall. Figured 32GB is nice but I don't put music on my iPad and I can pretty much stream anything. Walked there at 9 am and got the one and only model of this type. There was a couple in front of me that wanted white and large capacity. Phew.

I got the Yoobao case too. It works great (doubles as a three way stand). Cheap and good feeling. and thin too. Only problem is the headphone and mics arent perfectly aligned but I can live with it.

And even web browsing and stuff, I can tell the difference.

But no, there's nothing wrong with 1st gen.

Hi:
I have my 64G iPad 1 since day one (ok Mexican day one) and I have no plans to make the update to the iPad 2. I'm pretty happy with my iPad and think it's more sexy and nice that the new one. Ohh! And I have the multitouch gestures function and works pretty nice, so enjoy your iPad:)!

Regards from Mexico.

I understand where you are coming from. I too have an iPad 32GB WiFi (first gen) and don't see any need to upgrade. I have no use for a camera on my iPad when I have a touch, iPhone, point n shoot, and dslr. The weight difference and thinner profile aren't enough for me to justify buying the newer model. Since I don't play games on my iPad I have no use for a faster processor and more ram. Yes I know it makes a difference when doing other various tasks but I mainly use my iPad for browsing the internet and checking my email. I made a decision to hold out on the iPad2 not only because I'm happy with my first gen but also in an effort to save my money until Apple releases an iPad with a higher resolution screen(wether it's retina or whatever). Being a photographer it's crucial that I have a higher resolution screen when showing pictures to potential clients. It's all about purpose. If iPad2 had a higher resolution screen I would have one. Until then I will hold on to my original.
