Saving your SHSH isn't necessary, but It's definitely a smart thing to do. And you might be able to find your IPSW here:

On PC: Your Username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

On Mac:
Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPhone Firmware

Thanks. Ever little bit of info I get from here I end up writing them down on paper so I can always have them. So your info isn't going to waste. Another thing. What's the significance of HDR on the camera. It doesn't look any different to me. The pics actually don't look all that hot. I looked up the why the letters stnd for but didn't really understand what it's suppose to do to my pics besides make them look a lil funny and faded.

This explains HDR photos a little bit more: http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2010/09/hdr-photography-with-iphone-4-and-ios-41.ars

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range photography. It basically takes 3 photos (one at +1 exposure, one at -1 exposure, and one at normal exposure) and combines them into one image. Take a picture without HDR on out a window when the sun is out, or it's bright out, but when it's dimly lit in your house, then take one WITH HDR on, and you'll notice the difference, I guarantee it. It helps keep picture from being under or over exposed. It has it's uses. There's definitely times that I turn it off.

It will probably look good outdoors when over exposed things are washed up. Unfortunately theres barely any sun out these days. Tx for the link. It explained everything.

Well, turns out the iPhone had 4.2.1 on it already. So, I am going to go ahead and try to JB it since it is already upgraded...nothing to loose.

Edit:
Hmmm. Interesting. What is the significance that when I ran TinyUmbrella that it was able to Save the SHSH for 4.1, 4.2.1 (current...and my only run with the iPhone4 attached) AND 4.2b3.

Does this mean the previous owner had run TinyUmbrella?

Here is what TU reports...

iPhone4 4.1 (8B117)
iPhone4 4.2.1 (8C148)
iPhone4 4.2b3 (8C5115c)

What would make the most logical course of action if I want to JB this right now, tethered or not?

Thanks!
