Do you mean Apple's engineers are bad at programming? 😉

Not all tasks can be parallelized, which means some are single threaded and you can't do anything about it...

WebKit is an open-source engine which a lot of different companies contributed to so not only Apple is responsible for it, but it's them that I consider responsible for releasing the rMBP without making sure they can deliver appropriate software along with it.

Visibly a lot of task could have been parallelized, judging by Safari 6 vs WebKit nightly's UI performance. I'm not sure exactly what has been optimized, but the difference is massive on a rMBP. I think whatever fixes the framerate issues in Safari 7 should have been available in Safari 6, and even them I'm generous since Safari 6 launched after the rMBP.

Apple must have had so much rMBP returns because of that, not to mention worse reviews and the public's false assumption that a powerful GPU is needed to drive a high-res display, which may hurt the 13" rMBP's sales even in the long run.

Why does the theverge.com always get mentioned when talking about rMBP scrolling lag? So if you don't care about theverge.com is it safe to say you won't notice any lag?

No, it's the simplest counter to the universal claim that "lag doesn't exist on the 13" rMBP". All you need to do to show that universal statement is false is to provide one counter example.

I'm sure that the 13" rMBPers who experience this could supply other such examples.

So instead of attacking the example, perhaps folks should just admit that there exists some lag issue that still exists.

😉

That's true. I've always wondered if the people that state "there's no lag on my rMBP" just don't visit graphic intensive websites. Also what's this webkit I've read about that supposedly fixes the lag?

Lag lag and then lag again

I have two firmware problems with my2200$ mbpr 15inch first is EFI WHEN I SWITCH BETWEEN DESKTOP AND WIDGETS. IT ISN'T SMOOTH AND HAS A NOTICABLE LAG ALSO DEDICATED GRAPHIC IS MESSED UP AND MY GT650M GETS REALLY HOT SO FAST SMC DOESN'T WORK AND FANS ARE STUCK AT 2000RPM. TRIED RESSETING PRAM AND SMC ANY ADVICE WILL BE EALLY HELP FUL NOTE:the is NO apple store genius bar or something else here.
