I installed Mavericks on two Mid 2010 13" MacBook Pro's w/ 4GB of RAM and the machines have performed flawlessly. Both were an upgrade from Snow Leopard.

It takes a man with STEEL goolies to apologise..... So well done to you sir....

CB,

Thanks bro. I meant this to be "I've had smooth sailing, or it's been a bit choppy." I was a bit subject when I started the thread, after reading a few early replies I couldn't refute; I owed it to the community to apologise. My intent was never to get members stirred up. It's been a bit bumpy for me with Mavs, but I know down the road a bit it will get better. Also I'm never afraid to admit when I'm wrong. I felt better after apologizing, and want to sincerely thank you for the props. From the heart bro .......

Hanging

Two annoying problems here too (2013 rMBP w/ 8GB RAM):
1. Lots of hanging issues with Finder: scrolling, importing pics, moving files, SLOW loading of quick view (even small word files).
2. Beachball issues: this isn't so much an issue as a quirk. In Chrome my cursor randomly flashes to the beachball and back again - frequently.

I've been using Apple since my family got fed up with Dell in 1999, don't think I'll go back...but this has been disappointing/surprising. Not having any crashing issues, but the "glitchy" feel makes me feel like it wasn't quite ready.

On another note - any word on when Google is going to fix Chrome for Mavericks?

Is Mavericks really ready for the public. IMO no it isn't. It works well for some, but for the majority I would say it's more of a headache. That's just my opinion.
I don't know why Apple had to rush this out. Makes me wonder why they just let it go for free.

My machines are running faster and smoother than ever. I have old and new machines (including unsupported machines) of all shapes and sizes.

10.x.0 releases *always* have bugs and glitches. Let's not get overheated about this just yet. Let's also keep in mind that Mavericks was probably on a similarly accelerated development timeframe as iOS 7 (basically 6 months from restarting work to WWDC announcement), especially as they had to react to the new non-skeumorphic design motif that iOS 7 laid out.

I think its great

Late 2011 MBP 13" running 10.7.5 originally. I am currently in South America traveling. Dropped the MBP several days ago on concrete. Dinged the right rear corner of the lid(machine was off). Started fine but after running disk diagnostics and seeing a few errors I decided to replace the 500 GB drive. Cloned the new drive from the old one but could not get File Vault to work so I decided to take a shot at an upgrade to Mavericks while I had the machine apart. Completely flawless , the machine runs faster, seems to start faster, battery seems to last longer as well. Re enabled File Vault, wiped my back up drive and did the base backup with Time Machine. Only program broken was Kaspersky AV scanner.

I like it more than 10.7. Great so far

2 Mo update:

Almost 2 months later and i feel like it's getting slower. Now when I try to save files (especially downloads from Mail) it pulls up the save screen, but I have to wait 2-3 minutes (yes I've timed it) before it will pull up the actual files. Starting to get really frustrated. Plus Quicklook and all those other issues are continuing! Anyone continuing to have problems?
