Is Midnight Black or Blue?

I've no idea. It's not like Apple don't know what matte black looks like nor they don't know how to make one. They did make a matte black iPhone in 2016.

If I were to be looking for a Mac, I'd pick that color. It brings me vibes of the black MacBook.

Of course it's a gorgeous color. The more you look at it, the more it winks back.It's starting to grow on me. I wanted black, but now I can't unsee blue. However it's an overcast blue that reminds me of stormy weather, which I like.
It looks like every PC laptop in the last 20 years. But yea sure. It's amazing...

Even space gray Macs are finger print magnets. That said, those were demo units. Can you imagine how many other hands have touched that Mac?

I can see the left is more blue here. But as soon as I cover the right side with my hand, the left side just looks grey again.
My midnight iPhone has a blue tinge to it, but I would call it black.

The reason why I never picked one up was due to the GMA 950 or GMA X3100 from Intel.
It's easy to confuse the two. Once my I thought my uncle had a black computer, but when I looked at it closely, it was just very, very, very, very, very, very, dark blue.

Only if you don’t see the subtle design cues. The color is a very nice navy blue type of color that is much more interesting than any plain black PC laptop.

The midnight iPhone is definitely not black. Black would be a neutral tone, this is dark blue.
Having seen it in store today I can confirm the Midnight colour is an absolute fingerprint magnet! All the customers were commenting about this to the staff there! The Midnight Airs in store looked horrible and showed fingerprints up in a way that none of the other colours did. I can imagine it would look nice when clean though as the blue tinge really sets it off!
I guess models in a shop being handled by dozens of customers are probably the worst case scenario but personally I'd still go for Space Grey or Silver 😎

I guess we're all different. I don't see black except the keyboard and bezels. The MacBook is blue(ish).I don't see any blue, except the wallpaper. A very matte black.
