Thanks for the amazing response & support guys :) This is a great community!

I got my money Back! :) Those losers completely refunded all my money.. But it needed some coaxing.. When I reached their office they tried to gimme some BS and acted completely innocent as if they had no clue what I was talking about.. I tried to keep my calm but at the same time did put my point across that I was completely pissed at their dishonesty ...

They gave more BS saying it wasn't their fault and it was the warehouse to blame :eek::rolleyes: Yea Right! (remember the installation? Scratch guard? and all those other gimmics)

They also tried to convince me to let them hold back about 25% of the total Money and they would gimme me a Brand New MBP in a weeks time.. well right.. as if I would trust those crooks:mad: ,..When they saw I wouldn't budge they refunded my complete amount...

I am a PC user trying to switch over to Mac for good .. but this been such an unpleasant experience.. These people are Apple Authorized resellers as well as Authorized Service Providers... If they can try and rip customers off in this way .. who else can We trust :( I am not sure If I want to buy a Mac from any of these resellers now coz I cant trust any of them ... I want to write to Apple regarding this mess up .. I hope they do something about these crooks who are screwing up Apple's image BIG time! :(

Yeah, write up to Apple and complain.

Have you considered buying it online? You can guarantee it would be brand new.

Make sure that your next one is 100% factory sealed. If there's any doubt, walk.

Yes I tried but the Apple U.S site wont ship to India I think.. and the Apple India Site only has catalogue store .. where u can just check the product specs etc .. but no option to buy it online :( There are many Mac users in India .. plus a lot more new one's emerging every other day .. Its high time Apple considered providing online purchase options for Mac lovers in India:rolleyes:

Wow...I would TOTALLY freak if that happened to me. Well I'm glad everything turned out ok, and don't let it sway you!
 
It sounds like you got a "floor model" or something originally. I'm glad you stood your ground and got a full refund. Well done.

I would look into an online Authorized Reseller, and email them about shipping to India. Your follow through with reporting this incident to Apple may cause the Resellers local to you to clean up their act, which would be nice for yourself as well as other customers there. It may even encourage Apple to opt for international shipping to areas not covered now.

Good luck on your switch to Apple products. I think you will be glad you switched, despite the efforts it takes to do so. :)
 
I would say if you can report this reseller, you still need to do so. By doing that, you would be protecting other buyers that fall into the scam. good to know that all turned out well.
 
Hi Guyz.. Ok I finally got my brand new MBP 17" :cool: It came all sealed and fresh ... I wanted to clarify a few points...

When I go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do# and enter my MBP serial number it says

"Our records indicate that your product is covered under Apple's Limited Warranty which is estimated to expire on 26 Feb 2009.


Your product is not eligible for complimentary phone support.


If you believe that this information is inaccurate, learn how to update your coverage status. Please put your sales receipt in a safe place. You will need it for warranty validation."

Can u tell me why it says not eligible for complimentary phone support.

Another thing .. Can u tell me what OS comes pre installed on the MBP? I think mine has Tiger.. and I also got 3 installation discs in the package...

2 are grey colored "Mac OS X Install Disc 1" and "Mac OS X Install Disc 2"

And another which is for the Leopard and the DVD cover says "Welcome to Mac OS X Leopard" "Apple has just introduced Max OS X v10.5 Leopard.........blah blah... Although this new operating system was not installed on your computer before it left the factory, with the copy of Leopard on the enclosed DVD, you too can enjoy the many new features......."

So my Question is does the MBP comes preinstalled with Leopard? or its Tiger and u just get Leopard on DVD?

The Package shows Apple seal with Import date as Feb 08 and Manufacture date as Feb 08...

I don't know about the phone support thing since you are in a different country.

I got mine in Decmeber and it did not have Leopard installed. Look under the Apple symbol in the left corner of the screen and click on "About this Mac". This will tell you if you have 10.4 or 10.5 installed. If you have 10.4 then you will need to do an upgrade to 10.5. Just insert the DVD, shut down the computer and restart it while holding down the "C" key. This will allow it to start off the DVD and you can follow the prompts from there.
