I bought my first mac(book pro) about a month ago and at that time everybody was saying the same thing as today. Unless you are doing major editing the current macbook's will satisfy your needs. And you will be able to get it for less now then when the new ones come out. There are many on ebay for a lot cheeper that apple prices.
 
I have a 13" 2.26 MBP, and it's great, but i'll jump on the next update.

The wife needs a laptop, so my current one will be handed down to her. :cool:
 
It depends on whether you plan to beat it into the ground or want to retain resale value for as long as possible. For a non-power user it probably makes little difference from the standpoint of functionality.
