I have a 12 pro. I use my phone ALOT especially for work calls my battery is now 86% health as I am charging it mid day due to phone calls. I also like to use it for games and media content. Otherwise mostly browsing.

Would an upgrade make sense for someone like me? Im not a photographer and dont have social media. I really love pro-motion on the ipad but $2000 for an upgrade just for that? I would get a boost in battery life.

I would appreciate some insights please.

Honestly yes. This, plus all the camera upgrades (particularly cinematic video), 55% graphics improvement, much improved 5G modem, and massive increase in battery life make the upgrade worth it. ESPECIALLY if you have a 128GB Max because the trade-in value from Apple is rock solid this year.

For me, it's always been a noticeable difference between the iPad Pro and iPhone screen. It remains to be determined if I'll actually notice the difference on the smaller screen, but definitely excited about it.

Something tells me that 120 hz won't make such a big difference on a smaller screen. I would love it if it were on my MacBook, and its awesome on my IPP, but I don't ever find myself wanting it only my 11PM. We'll have to see it in action once it launches!

Promotion is about motion....when there is fast motion it goes up to 120hz , when it isnt, it goes to 10hz
This is the future for sure, Apple started it with the ipad pro 5 years ago...now we get it into their top seller device, and i bet sometime in future will go into the macs as well, since the SoC will be a great gpu level already. It is good for the eyes and for the battery
The bigger display, the most impact it will be

Also, you will definitely see a difference in games after more developers update to take advantage of the newer screens in the 13 Pro.

The only people that will tell you its not worth it are people who haven't experienced 120hz, especially when gaming or scrolling through text.
I have an IPP and a 240 hz monitor for gaming, but I don't feel the huge need for it on my Phone. iOS is smooth enough, but of course my opinion may change once I see it in person.

He mentioned that he does gaming on the phone. That will be worth it depending on how much gaming. Plus if you do a lot of scrolls through websites or social media. The snappier experience is worth it. I’m not sold on the opinion that the smaller screen will lessen the experience.
I guess we will find out in a week.

NO! Don’t let MKBHD and the rest of the techtubers buy you into a feature that honestly does not make any real life difference, yes it’s a nice to have that buttery smooth animations, whatever, but not a must have like they pretend it to be. I also don’t like how techtubers basically dictate to the market what the next must have feature should be.

I absolutely agree. I don't game on my 11PM so I'm definitely not the target audience for this phone. For gaming, 120hz will 100% blow 60hz out of the water. For scrolling, I could live with 60.

"yes it’s a nice to have but not a must have like they pretend it to be." then we can live with iphone 6s or even with a nokia 3310 that can connect to the internet for must basic stuff...so...we all are here not just for the basic must have...we are here to take advatages of everything we can use it...
its not a must have a higher ppi , but now...our eyes vote for this...promotion is in this league as well...after using promotion for 1 year, your eyes will be hurt when you go back to a static 60hz device. we dont need more ram more storage, we can manage to get around it...but, its easier to live with the tech of today
Must have is food water and so on...and a phone that can make phone calls like in the 90...for other stuff we can buy a laptop right?! but it sure its nice to have the ability to do what we can with todays smartphones. Again ,must have is a big combination of words. Bottom line, for 2021 it is a must have for the price we pay

As with any 'is it worth upgrading?' questions, this is 100% subjective. Regardless of the feature, some won't care about it at all, while others will have been waiting for years and cannot wait to have it.

If you're on the fence, remember that Apple has a two-week 100% return policy. You can always get it, try it for a week or two to see what your thoughts are, and then make your decision.

Don’t feel the difference moving between my M1 iPad Pro and my iPhone XS.

Also you might have had a bad week, chill out.

To me who like playing games and sometime at 120fps.
When I use my iPad Pro I never notice the 120hz promotion, sometime I disable it to see difference, but only few minutes after.

on iPhone sometime it is difficult to search a content on 9GAG, Twitter, so I thinks the promotion will fit well in this case.

then, I play Grid (best racing game on iOS) on iPad and would rather graphics at 60fps.
I asked feral (product or of the game on iOS) and they dont think yet to make an upgrade on iPhone (stuck at 60fps)

so the promotion will be my upgrade next year when I will bought the regular 14

For me it was and why I decided to upgrade from 12 PM. It was such a nice experience when I was using it on my S21 Ultra. Everything is just so much faster when scrolling but if you haven’t used a 120hz screen, you’ll be completely satisfied with your 12. My 12 Pro Max just felt weird and slow when I started using it again, so it’s the one thing that I hoped Apple would bring to the 13 lineup. I’m even seeing Android users switching to the iPhone simply because of the 120hz refresh rate lol

Either scrolling anything on a regular 60hz iPhone display bugs your eyes or doesn't. Personally I see annoying strobe effects every time the screen moves on a regular 60hz display unless I scroll reeeeeeealy slow.
So for me, 120hz refresh will be a major upgrade.

You sound like he’s personally hurt your feelings with the ProMotion comment. Much of what you said doesn’t make sense and is irrelevant to his post.

i am chill...if you dont see the difference that doesnt apply to everyone. Do you saw the difference in ppi between iphone 3gs and 4? I guess not, so bottom line its your issue not ours.
Promotion is a bless for the eyes, and again...must have? poor choice of words :)
