You sound like he’s personally hurt your feelings with the ProMotion comment. Much of what you said doesn’t make sense and is irrelevant to his post.
no, that "must have" using its irrelevant. Again, here we are talking IF promotion its worth it, or about some guys disccusion and some "feelings" ?! lets try to be on topic here
How a stranger can hurt your feelings on the web? I will never understand that...i just reply to that member that "must have" has nothing to do with a tech, that its included in the price of the phone and its not an "optional" lets say iphone 13 pro starting from 999 and for 100$ you get promotion...so it is worth it, in 2021.
End of debate :)

It’s more just a ‘nice to have’ rather than anything ground breaking. I’m actually more excited for the battery savings it will provide - as well as the ultra low power mode I can turn on when I need to by limiting the max refresh rate to 60 to have it float between 60-10 Hz

i am chill...if you dont see the difference that doesnt apply to everyone. Do you saw the difference in ppi between iphone 3gs and 4? I guess not, so bottom line its your issue not ours.
Promotion is a bless for the eyes, and again...must have? poor choice of words :)
Did you even read what the OP asked? He wanted to know if its worth it for him to spend $2000 for an upgrade just for the promotion feature and where as you ended your rant with, we deserve to have this feature at the price we pay. Your comment/rant wasnt even relevant. Honestly, if anyone made a poor choice of words its you and everyone here can see it. Delete the post and enjoy your purchase.

I think promotion will have more impact on battery life than anything else, so if you struggle with battery, I would get a phone with promotion as it might help out in that area.

Your endless rant was an indication as to how much you took it personally. All the OP asked was it was worth the extra money and you went on and on the basic necessities like food and water that don’t make sense at all. You talked about laptops and even a Nokia 3310 for crying out loud. Couldn’t get anymore irrelevant than that. And you’re not even ready to admit that was off-topic. If you’d just said that it was worth it that would’ve been fine.

Now I’m beginning to wonder if you even understood what the OP was asking

I guess the battery would be nice to have. I may just make a decision after using them in the Apple store. When do you all think they will be on display?

Promotion is definitely a cool feature when in use but Apple has already done a phenomenal job with touch latency and responsiveness on their 60hz screens that I don’t feel like I’m missing out when i jump from iPad to iPhone. if something is going to push you over to the pro side, it would be the camera hardware improvements.

Before September 2021: If Apple doesn’t release an iPhone with a 120Hz screen I’m switching to XYZ brand.
After September 2021: 120Hz is so underwhelming. I’m switching to XYZ brand.

If you're asking strangers if it's worth upgrading your iPhone, then the answer is no because if you really needed or wanted to upgrade, you wouldn't ask random people on the internet.

Why are some people so salty?
The OP asked for input by people who’ve already used a 120Hz screen if it was worth the extra cost. You bothered to respond to a stranger, is it any different the OP was asking a stranger?

I wouldn’t buy an iPad without it (all the iPads without it look laggy to me), but for some reason, my iPhone screen has never bothered me nor felt laggy. I’ve never seen/used a 120Hz or even 90Hz phone screen before either. So I’m curious to see how different my 13 Pro will feel once it arrives.

ProMotion was one of the deciding factors for me in upgrading because I enjoy the fluidity so much on my iPad screen.

As someone who exists in both the iOS and Android world, I would say yes, it is worth it. I have a 12 Pro Max as my primary and a Pixel 4XL that I enjoy using for certain things and just like having around. It's hard to go back to using the iPhone after extensive use of the Pixel. The iPhone seems like a rotary phone by comparison. To me, this makes the iPhone 13 Pro a must-have device. Now, of course, iOS has plenty of other advantages. It is why the iPhone will always be my primary device, but adding Pro Motion to the iPhone will make a world of difference to the user experience. A phone's screen is your primary source of interaction! Why wouldn't you want the best experience?

I have a 12 pro. I use my phone ALOT especially for work calls my battery is now 86% health as I am charging it mid day due to phone calls. I also like to use it for games and media content. Otherwise mostly browsing.

Would an upgrade make sense for someone like me? Im not a photographer and dont have social media. I really love pro-motion on the ipad but $2000 for an upgrade just for that? I would get a boost in battery life.

I would appreciate some insights please.
Is something wrong with your phone? Seriously suggesting because on the iPhone 12 Pro I was using (non max) I would finish the day with 35-40%, and I’m on zooms/conferences etc a lot. If you’re dead by midday it’s a little surprising tbh? That wouldn’t happen to me and I websurf and message and call as mentioned above, so I’m honestly thinking something is up or you’re actually doing other stuff maybe?

Agreed, don’t think i cold use any device without 120hz now. Can’t wait for 13 pro max to arrive.

ProMotion was one of my deciding factors, too. (Actually, I think it might have been my only deciding factor because I'm not interested in Always on Display and a fingerprint sensor.) I've never used a phone with 120Hz refresh rate either, so I'm really looking forward to trying it (I hope it's noticeable). In fact, I've never used any device that has a 120Hz refresh rate. My parents have the iPad 8th Generation, which I doubt has 120Hz.

In the Android World it works wonders on iOS not so much... I don't really notice much of a difference on my iPad Pro compared to my iPhones

Yep same, main reason why I’m not tempted by iPad mini

Yep, I'm really curious to see my 5G speeds with band aggregation over what my 12 was getting.
You think the speeds will really increase? Or search or hold the network better? Which service do you have? I’ve been curious about this too.

I’m on T-Mobile. I don’t think speeds will be a night and day difference, but since the x60 can basically combine 5G bands it would be theoretically possible in some areas where it could connect to both the low and midband spectrum and combine them. It would be possible to do that with mmWave spectrum as well, but I don’t know anywhere near me where T-Mobile has that deployed.

I’ve also noticed sometimes with my 12 pro where it’ll say I have 5G and for a short while I won’t have any data before it actually starts working. So curious myself what a next gen modem chipset will do for us from a connectivity aspect.

I've honestly never been able to tell the difference. I've used the pro motion on the 10.5 inch iPad Pro and now the 11 inch iPad Pro. Alongside those devices I've used an iPad mini (mini 4 and then 5) and whatever iPhone I was using at the time. I've never noticed the difference in smoothness or speed. However I think you are supposed to benefit most in gaming and drawing. I only do colouring with my Apple Pencil and I play very simple games. I've also used 120hz on the S21 ultra. It was nice but nothing earth shattering.

Don’t feel the difference moving between my M1 iPad Pro and my iPhone XS.

Also you might have had a bad week, chill out.
I had the same experience comparing my iPad Pro m1 to my iPhone 12 Pro. Don’t really notice a difference.I’m waiting to see what people in the real world think after they get the new iPhone in hand.

I have T Mobile too. The coverage map says I have 5G UC. There are times I can get 660MB down and other times 50 MB down. I could drive to Atlanta, 30 mins, to test the mmw but I never have a need to go. So maybe with the X60 it’ll be better. We’ll know next Friday.
