Even considering typical stereotypes I don’t think people see red as a “girly” color. And I don’t get why you would need reassurance on your color choice from an Internet forum. Thinking of colors as “manly” or “girly” is outdated thinking that has no place in modern society.

@Randall2018 I disagree.

EDIT>> ... with the statement "Thinking of colors as “manly” or “girly” is outdated thinking that has no place in modern society."

Ps - cops don’t care what the color of your car is. Haha.

Today I'd take your word for that but too late, already learned it from your counterparts here in NYS... I have been pulled over in cars that are orange, blue, grey, tan. To be fair a couple times it was over a taillight out so it was more of a nighttime "cop magnet" than a test of car colors mattering.

Once in the daytime I nearly went too far in trying to joke the guy out of writing a ticket for doing 42 in a 35 by saying I wasn't aware an old VW could go that fast "even though it's orange".

He didn't write me up but he did say what you said, only without the Haha at the end.

I should also mention if you’re really into tech in your car, Mercedes isn’t necessarily the brand to go with. As of present heir infotainment isn’t great in most models. COMAND in general is pretty subpar in my opinion compared to Audi MMI or BME iDrive.

That’s nice. I would say more, but this is the wrong forum for that type of discussion.

I should have been specific. I disagree with the statement "Thinking of colors as “manly” or “girly” is outdated thinking that has no place in modern society."

You are entitled to your opinion(as i am mine). And yeah, this doesn't seem like the place for this type of discussion.

We gradually migrate from childhood cravings for one perfectly red atomic fireball candy to wanting something like a red car and so to become full fledged members of a consumerist society we didn't invent but do have to live in while it lasts anyway. For 2c or $20m, we're consigned to having to make up our minds about "the right" choice for the rest of our lives once our parents don't make all the calls for us.

It's a rite of passage to be wondering about the "right color" car or truck. You're there. Pick the color you like best. It's a kick to be able to do that.

EDIT (in honor of @Mousse): pick the color you like best until you get married... :p

Red is fine, just don’t get the car eyelashes.
My eyelashes are long, dark and thick, so I put them on all my red cars. Thus, proving my manliness. OP should do the same. Unless he has light, short, sparse eyelashes. Then, no way. Still get a red car, though.

Black. My first car was black (Cressida). My second car was black (Accord). My first SUV was black (RAV4). Then I got married and the Missus wouldn't let me get a black vehicle anymore.:(
Are you also a lumberjack? Because that's OK.
He sleeps all night and he works all day:D

I see this thread has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Not that there's anything girly about handbaskets. It's just that if one is headed to hell, one might consider a more, well, hellish portable container, like say a black and red anodized titanium case.

Unless it's just carrying one's lunch, then handbaskets are dandy. Not dandy as in Dandy, but dandy as in "fine and dandy".

not only do they care, they deliberately let people driving red sport cars get away with outrageous speeding.....just because cops like red cars :p

Magnum PI himself drives a red car so how can anyone even ask this.

infotainment isn’t great in most models.

My car has been pretty entertaining lately and it's so old it doesn't even have a CD player in it, much less aux in to the radio... it's cassette tapes or FM transmitter dongle on an iPod... but the the infotainment of which I speak is related to the starter. Car's in the shop. After this thread I'm thinking I should maybe take it to the body shop on the way home and get it painted red.

I would go with Black or White because it's easy to color match when you get the inevitable door ding.:D

I've been thinking maybe the tan color of my car, which is also approximately the color of a white tailed deer, is not the way to go because maybe they see it in the fall and get all aggressive and figure "hey I could take that..."

I've connected with three of them in my current car and they weren't just dings either, two of them quarter panels and the last one a paint job on the hood. That last one wasn't quite a match either or at least how I see it, so every time I do see it which is every time I drive the car, I get annoyed all over again.

Next time a red car for me, and let the damn deer wonder if they could take it, maybe dance a little longer on the edge of the road instead of just going for it.
