That doesn't seem right

Uhh, this isn't bad....

~1 1/2 hours with ~15% battery used. That's heading toward 10 hours of usage. Getting 10 hours of usage is quite the feat with an iPhone. While not impossible it's very rare, you can do it with locally stored music playing in the background (screen off) but don't expect it from the way you use the phone.

Hence why Apple didn't find a problem. With my usage patterns the best I've ever got on any iPhone was 7 1/2 hours.

No it would be regular music from stock music app. My phone gets hot sometimes

It getting hot is normal the aluminum is thin and not a good insulator so the heat from the battery goes right threw the aluminum.

Yeah I don't think it's bad battery life either.

I got the 5s and the battery sucks. My and my gf both have phones that drain so fast. 10% in an hour with minimal use. 5% with 4 songs using the regular iphone music app. Surfing the internt 1% every 2 minutes. Its just horrible. Is the 5c better on battery life? Im thinking about downgrading because I cannot stand this. I think its the processer, the CPU and the better graphics card in the 5s that's making it drain faster.

I think you should go to an Apple store and get it checked? Because that's not normal. My 5S lasts longer than my 5.

I'm surprised that nobody has asked this, and if anyone did then I must have skipped that post, but did your iPhone 5 have iOS 6 or 7? iOS 7 made battery life way worse for a lot of people. It is possible that if your iPhone 5 had iOS 6, that iOS 7 on the 5S is making battery life worse. The people saying that the battery life is better on the 5S must have gotten used to the worse battery life that came with iOS 7 on their 5.

Either way, your battery life seems really good. It is certainly better than my 4 hours on a 4S.

Good point.

It was iOS 6 until the update. When I had the update come to think of it it seemed worse. I guess I was just so used to throw in it on the charger all the time when by a charger. Are they gonna fix the battery problem? And also can I downgrade?

----------

Will the 5c honestly be worse?

No the 5c will probably be the same. And there's no way to downgrade. Can a 7.1 user tell us if the battery life improves?

You cannot downgrade. Also, my battery life on my 5 was worse than your 5s battery life nits really all subjective. We all use our phones differently all the time, you're never going to get 100% the same battery life, and your numbers look fine.

I will say, my 5s has been getting great battery life. However, now running the latest beta of iOS 7.1, it's gotten even better. I'd say wait for the update.

The 5c may not be worse, but it won't be much better. Would you honestly give up the 5s for the possibility of a 10-20 minutes more battery?

How much better is the battery with the 7.1 iOS? Was it meant to improve battery?

----------

How do I get the beta to try it out?

Again, battery use is never the same because you never use the phone in 100% the exact same way. I can tell you that the improvement in 7.1 is greater than any improvement you could possibly (but improbably) see by switching to the 5c.

And you must be a registered developer to run iOS betas.

Hard to say that you would see improvements either with 7.1 or 5C. Based on the numbers mentioned it seems like the usage you are getting more or less average--some get more and a few get less and most get around the same more or less.

So the 7.1 will fix the battery#

In my opinion your battery is fine, so I'm not sure it will fix anything. For me, my battery life is slightly improved.

Your looking for a definitive answer, but the facts are that there is no definitive answer. Battery life is very subjective and will vary all the time. Just stop worrying about it and micromanaging it and you will be much happier with life.

So overall the 5c with the less processor and CPU and graphics won't really make a big difference

Ok I'll see how the battery lasts now. I'll show u what it is now

Good?

As I said, battery usage varies greatly depending on what you do; music, web, video, games, etc. Showing your battery usage every few hours shows nothing. You'd really benefit from worrying less about micromanaging your battery. I suggest turning battery percentage off.

Yes, that's perfectly fine.
