I keep going back and forth with this. I have a silver 6S plus that's jail broken on 9.3.3, but a black 7 Plus is so tempting. All I have to do is trade my phone in and continue payments. Still trying to decide.
I can only speak for T-Mobile's promotion. I will be honest and say I looked at it, but I did not care for the terms.I was unaware of this free promotion of giving away a 7 in exchange for a iPhone 6.

I have seven months left on my lease for my 6s+. If I went for this promo ALL my lease payments for my 6s+ are forfeit. Like I never paid them at all. For the capacity I'd want I'd have to fork over about $400 (downpayment on two phones).
Then you get a bill credit each month, about $27 and change. That means, you're locked in to the carrier for 24 months before that phone becomes "free".
Leave before those 24 months and the difference between what you have paid and what is owed is IMMEDIATELY due in full.
I've already decided we would upgrade next year for the 8 (or whatever Apple will call it). I'm not losing out on my current lease payments to be locked in for 24 months for a phone I think is ugly only to pay out even MORE money next year to upgrade to the model I actually DO want.
Just how I feel about it.
EDIT: I am not sure if the phone you trade in must be paid off or not based on something I recall just now. But if true, it would mean I'd have to pay off my current phone anyway so still not a deal for me.

I hear you. And I have no intention of switching either. But I'm just not into holding on to a phone I really don't like for a year and then having to move money around to get the phone I DO like. Can't blame you, if your device is not paid off in full its not worth it having to pay it all off and then trade up.
About the extra amount if you want a 7 plus or the highest storage you'd have to pay extra just like with everything.
As far as the bill credit they charge you a certain amount and then give you the same amount in credit so it doesn't really make any difference in your bill. The 2 year lock in doesnt bother me, I dont switch carriers often.
Last carrier I was with for 17 years![]()

I did it last year because of our circumstances but it's not something I care to repeat when I'm in a stable place.![]()
