I keep going back and forth with this. I have a silver 6S plus that's jail broken on 9.3.3, but a black 7 Plus is so tempting. All I have to do is trade my phone in and continue payments. Still trying to decide.

I am thinking to get a 7 from now, might as well as they are being given for free! I will just buy a cheap iphone 6 on CL to give in to Tmobile, and continue to use my 6S which is running 9.1 JB.

Im on the fence, I have the 6s jailbroken I want a bigger phone as i get older i cant see as well as i used to but i love the jb so i may hold off a few months

I was unaware of this free promotion of giving away a 7 in exchange for a iPhone 6. I am just getting my 6 the perfect way I like it. I did go stock when I upgraded and it was pretty painful. I might go like a previous user and buy the cheapest 6 I can find on CL and just have a 7 to play with and a back up until the jailbreak drops

I'm skipping iOS 10 on my 5S, 6+, 6S+ and 6S as well as on my iPad Mini 2 until there is a JB.

Also skipping the iPhone 7 this year.

I can only speak for T-Mobile's promotion. I will be honest and say I looked at it, but I did not care for the terms.

I have seven months left on my lease for my 6s+. If I went for this promo ALL my lease payments for my 6s+ are forfeit. Like I never paid them at all. For the capacity I'd want I'd have to fork over about $400 (downpayment on two phones).

Then you get a bill credit each month, about $27 and change. That means, you're locked in to the carrier for 24 months before that phone becomes "free".

Leave before those 24 months and the difference between what you have paid and what is owed is IMMEDIATELY due in full.

I've already decided we would upgrade next year for the 8 (or whatever Apple will call it). I'm not losing out on my current lease payments to be locked in for 24 months for a phone I think is ugly only to pay out even MORE money next year to upgrade to the model I actually DO want.

Just how I feel about it.

EDIT: I am not sure if the phone you trade in must be paid off or not based on something I recall just now. But if true, it would mean I'd have to pay off my current phone anyway so still not a deal for me.

I will wait it out, if by chance the iPhone 7 and iOS 10 are JBed, I will jump on it ASAP.

Well put. I see your point of view. Definitely wouldn't make sense since you almost have the phone free. I did some research and saw that att is offering the same deal it looks like. I was going to cruise in to an att store in the next couple of days and see exactly what all the terms are.

I just upgraded to a 6 a couple of months ago so it might be worth it for me. But only to have as a back up phone for when a jailbreak comes because I wouldn't go stock again, the 3 months earlier this year were painful enough.

I haven't seen much about the phone so maybe I'll have to look into it. I know when I upgraded I bought something so that I would be ready to upgrade for the 8, but can't remember exactly what I purchased.

Thanks for the info and input. I'll probably be like you and hold off till the 8 gets released to upgrade. I love the way my 6 is running right now

Can't blame you, if your device is not paid off in full its not worth it having to pay it all off and then trade up.
About the extra amount if you want a 7 plus or the highest storage you'd have to pay extra just like with everything.
As far as the bill credit they charge you a certain amount and then give you the same amount in credit so it doesn't really make any difference in your bill. The 2 year lock in doesnt bother me, I dont switch carriers often.
Last carrier I was with for 17 years :D

I hear you. And I have no intention of switching either. But I'm just not into holding on to a phone I really don't like for a year and then having to move money around to get the phone I DO like.

I did it last year because of our circumstances but it's not something I care to repeat when I'm in a stable place. :D

I Can't blame you bud.
We all gotta prioritize and figure out what makes better sense financially and more ;)

The trade in deal is for pif 6/6s only. I wouldn't trade in a 6s, but I would a 6. I don't plan on leaving ATT because we have 4 lines with them that 3 are still being paid on and I got a matching deal awhile ago when TMO gave double data for their 10gb plan, so ATT matched that for me. I get 20gb to share for the price of 10gb. This promotion is the most beneficial if you keep that line for the full 24 mo's or if you do trade up next year it is like they gave you $325 for your 6.

Those lease options with trade up are not my cup of tea either.
It's like leasing a car. You're making payments for a long time and then trade it in and start all over again from zero with nothing to show for.
No deal Howie :D
