That is the question I´m asking myself the hole week :D

Some questions:

Will BT 5.0 ever be more useful than BT 4.2?(within the next 2 years) - What do you think?
Is true tone that good? - What are your experiences?
Is wireless charging just a Gimmick or does it make sense in any sitation? (how fast will it Charge)?
Will someone use fast charging ?(don´t Forget the amount you have to pay for use it)

ATM i think about getting the iP 7 with 128 GB.

60€ cheaper than the 8 and the A10 Performance is good enough for the next 2 years to still run smooth i hope. But then again i think about getting the 8 cause i dont need that much storage (32 is far too less though). So undecided.

We may not use the maximum power if it but it's still better to have the latest and greatest so it can withstand longer upgrade cycles.

And herein lies the irony: you admit that A11 is a beast this year, etc. and then will fall for the same trap next year with A12? So what “longer upgrade cycles” are we talking about here? ;)

If the differences is only $50 then the 8 is a no brainer. You're getting a faster processor, wireless charging an improved colour gamut and a more future proof phone. Worth $50 in my book.

For some, perhaps, but for $50 more dollars spent, he’s getting half the storage. And the processor difference is all but useless. Finally, inductive charging means more money spent (on accessories) for a feature he may or may not need.

In years past, I would totally agree with you, but especially since there are almost zero camera improvements, I’d save my money. Each to his own though.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

Do something fun with your saved money.

Yeah, I'm a tech nerd that likes new technology, but the 8 doesn't even contain enough features for me to justify the cost of it anymore. I MAY consider the X, but it's probably going to be a nightmare to get.

...except the cameras are nearly identical (with the very minor difference of slow mo fps).

Not quite. There is hardware level noise reduction, a larger sensor, and first ever Apple Image Signal Processor. I think we're going to be pretty please with the big jump in image quality and low light performance.

Nothing really since I buy one every year. I'm talking about others lols

Lots of marketing speak, for sure. I'm more interested in the pragmatic day-to-day improvements.

In Gruber's review, which posted this morning, he seemed quite unenthused about the camera improvements:

Six days is not a lot of time to spend with a new phone, let alone two new phones. Photography is one area where I don’t yet have a handle on how much better these iPhones are than their predecessors. The lighting effects in Portrait mode, though, are interesting. This feature is still in “beta”, but man, I’ve already taken some shots of my wife and son that I just love. There have also been a few where the edges of their hair have confused the hell out of the iPhone’s depth sensing. But the original Portrait mode last year shipped in similar state, and got better quickly. When it works, though, it’s amazing. [emphasis mine]

The only point I want to make about your post, is the wireless charging. Yes it has that capability, but it's kind of difficult to look forward to that, being it's not going to even be available until 2018 and we don't know how the demand will be, which no one knows when actually might receive one depending on available stock. Similarly to the AirPod situation.
What? Are you saying wireless charging isn’t going to work on the iPhone 8 coming out of the box. That makes no sense. Qi pads are everywhere and will work just fine on Friday.

Well the reviews have started coming out. Looks like I guessed correctly in my forecast.

My take:

I vote for the 8

1. True tone. I wasn't really sure what this was, but now that I've researched a bit it seems that people love this. The screen is just about the most important part of the phone and anything that makes it better is a big plus.

2. Camera. Each generation the camera gets reliably better, I'm sure this year will be no different. Plus 4k at 60 fps will be stunning.

3. Wireless charging. This is definitely a great technology that is only going to get more convenient. More and more businesses are going to be implementing charging pads, making it super easy to charge your phone wherever you go. Its
great that the 8 supports the industry leading qi standard. In addition, I hear that new cars have wireless charging pads.

4. Fast Charging. Not enough people are talking about this. Especially with the plus phones, the ability to charge your phone to 50% in 30 minutes is huge.

5. A11 bionic. This is the biggie. Have you seen the geekbench scores for this beast? It blows everything else out of the water. This is whats going to make AR super smooth and fast on your phone. AR is definitely the future, this chip will make sure you don't get left behind. And obviously, a faster chip means that your phone is going to remain fast after receiving future iOS updates for longer.

6. New design. I personally am really looking forward to the glass back. I loved the iPhone 4 and thought that was one of
the most amazing phone designs I'd ever seen. The new 8 will be like the 4 but with a nice sleek shape. I can't wait.

7. Resale value. When you go to sell the phone down the line, I bet the difference in price between the 7 and the 8 will be more than $50.

I keep hearing people say how much they need huge storage space on their phones? Don't we all use iCloud to offload
our pictures and video now? You can get 200 gig of iCloud storage for 4 dollars a month.

Unless the iPhone 7 is significantly cheaper than the 8, it seems like a clear win for the 8 IMO :)

I know a lot of people who buy the previous years iPhone on a 2 year contract. This is what I did last year when I got the 6S and next year I will upgrade probably to the iPhone 8. This has become quite a growing trend in the UK due to new iPhone prices rocketing. This doesn't mean we are any less enthusiastic about having an iPhone and enjoying the latest features. My iPhone 6S is still super fast and has been the most reliable iPhone to date.

Agree with your statement.

Only question I have for myself is if I can manage with SE for 1-2 years.

Though taking into consideration iphone 8/X pricing in UK.

I think iphone8 could be my next upgrade.

Unless X becomes more affordable in a year or two-reviewed O2 prices-X is as I thought it would be +1k.

Meanwhile 4k Apple t.v. Is getting to purchase stage since I again removed Sky Sports/Movies from my Sky subs.

Purchased a product red 256gb 7 at Best Buy this past weekend for $649. The 8 to me isn't worth the extra $200.

Don't get the crappy 7.
Care to elaborate? Ive had every iPhone since the 3GS and the iPhone 7 has been my favourite so far. Only one I’ve had so far that I’ve never noticed any performance issues on and that’s never developed a hardware fault during my time with it.

they look quite different when comparing pictures
Yes, I’m starting to see in the reviews that Apple has most likely changed form on camera PR this model year. They seem to be under-promising and over-delivering. I hope the changes are great for those upgrading. They’ll truly be nice for folks coming from a 6 and even a 6S.

If I get the 7 I will get 128 because it doesn't have 64. If I get the 8 I would just get the 64. So the difference In Price is 50 bucks
It depends of if you need more storage or a newer model, with improved camera, design and processor. If I were you, I would get the 8 64GB.

You could quadruple the storage for another $150. I think that's a smart move.

As someone who learned the hard way to get the top storage option, I like that they did away with the mid tier. Doing so made the top tier a bit cheaper.
