Is the actual wait time really three weeks?

Apple stores near me have been getting them in everyday. Just show up at open or about 11AM and walk out with one.

No reason to order one online unless you don't have a store nearby.
 
The Apple stores in Chicago get them in regularly but sell out within hours. So you need to call ahead or be lucky. I finally found a couple 32GB at Best Buy.
 
Anyone know the situation with apple.ca? There are places here that don't have an Apple store nearby, and buying from apple is the only way to get a factory unlocked phone. They say on the website the wait time is 3 weeks as well.

good to know. Unfortunately for me I can only get one through an AT&T corporate store, and it has to be in stock. I can't ever order it in the store or online. It's complicated... :(

I think Apple cut off my BestBuy. I am on a waiting list and after checking in a couple times over a few weeks I am pretty sure the list has not moved at all. Luckily I'm not in a rush or I would have given up long ago.
 
I called 2 stores one locally one an hour away. The one farther away did not have any in stock but said a delivery was due today and would call when it arrived. I received a call 15 minutes later telling me the iPhone 4's arrived were in stock. I drove an hour to the store with no guarantee there would be one of the ten available. When i arrived there was a waiting list to see an ATT rep, waited a short time and walked out with a new iPhone 4 32g. There were still about 5 of the ten left. although they told me they could not hold one for me i think they had one set aside for me in the back, when I got there they asked my name and if I was from the near by town.
 
Where is the iphone ship from if I order from Apple.com?
Are they ship from China?
How about I order from At&T? From China too?:confused:
Which one is faster if I am ordering an iphone this week?

I ordered mine from apple.ca on the 29th, it's still saying the shipping date is Aug. 26. Which is fine by me as I'm moving the 25th and I planned on a 3 week wait, so it would ship to my new place. I'll let you know if mine tries to ship early.

Technically they all come from China I would suppose as that's where they are assembled. However they do not ship from China directly to the consumer. If you order from Apple I would imagine it would come from California and AT&T Im not sure, but somewhere within the USA.

From what I've read if you must order online then go with AT&T.
 
hmm do u think this problem will still persist by mid october? im trying to get an ip4 for myself as well as my girlfriend (as her surprise bday present:D)

Anyway, I have a more easily answered question. I ordered mine on July 28 and it isn't going to ship, according to Apple.com, until the 18th and won't arrive until the 25th. It had to ship to my dad's home in a different state because we are on a Family Plan. But once he gets it, he'll ship it to me. Will I get my phone in time to make order my free case? One month after purchase is quite a short window if you order from Apple!

If you take a look at the first paragraph here, it says
Customers who purchase an iPhone 4 from an Apple Retail Store, Apple Online Store, 1-800-MY-APPLE, or an Apple Authorized iPhone Reseller through September 30, 2010, are eligible for an iPhone 4 Bumper or other case at no cost. Customers who purchased an iPhone 4 before July 23, 2010 have through August 22, 2010 (30 days) to submit a claim. All other customers have 30 days from the purchase date of iPhone 4 to submit a claim. All claims are subject to the terms and conditions below.

It also says claims have to be submitted through the app. It makes me rather concerned as well. I'll barely have enough time to place an order myself.

You could always call up apple and ask, as well.
 
My carrier said "up to two weeks" when I ordered it two days ago, today I got a text saying it will be shipped within a few days. A nice surprise, indeed. :)

Btw, I'm so psyched. :p

What part of the country are you in? (on edit: I see, you're in Minnesota. Weird... do you have a lot of BB stores up that way?)

I just got my 2nd ip4 from Best Buy (returned the first one due to a weird power cycling thing).

When I went in to return it, they had a full stock of 16g and 32g, so I swapped my faulty 16g for a 32g.

I figured I might as well. I had to wait a ****ing hour to return the defective one.

Never saw so many people buying prepaid Blackberrys in all my days. Oy.

Nah. I'd say it'll be all sorted out by next month. This seems pretty typical of launch... it's more like the launch for the original iPhone or the 3G. 3GS was pretty easy to get, IIRC.

True in SOME cases. Very inconsistent is what it is. Some places it's a month, other places in Tokyo they're actually carrying stock. Which makes me wonder why I'm already at the 2 week mark here in Osaka. Bastards. I do believe however that every region gets new stock from the same truck at the same time because my friend and I ordered from two different places in the same region on the same day and we're both at the 2 week mark. I am pretty sure the truck will come and we'll get phone calls at the same time.

It's not like you order one and they put out an order just for your phone and the truck comes. The last i.e. 500 people who ordered phones get them from the same shipment so that's why some people get theirs fast. Because some people's orders were put in closer to when the truck from the airport was coming in the first place.
 
I ordered two 32GB iPhone 4s (non-Premier) on Friday 8/6 @ an AT&T store.
Ready for pickup @ AT&T today.

Total wait time: three business days (five total).


Definitely not three weeks. :D

If you go into your Apple Store order, you can change the shipping address from the AT&T billing address to your preferred billing address, and it will ship to you and not to your dad. I was able to do this with no problem.
 
Decided to try pick one up in the walnut creek apple store today. Got there at 10:30, they formed a line about that time. I was out by 11:20 with a 16GB (all they had in store at the time). Canceled my online order while they helped me set it up. I didn't ask how many they got in that day, but there were about 4 people ahead of me. One lady walked out with two and everyone else bought one. I'm happy now.
