My iPhone X is going to be shipped to me soon and looking to buy a case for it. I really like the leather folio, but 100$ is a steep price to pay for the case.

I was wondering for anybody on here that bought the case, their thoughts on it.

Otherwise I’ll just buy the regular leather case I’ve always bought for my iPhones.

For that price, I would go AC+ and be naked :)

The response has been pretty underwhelming for that folio case. I’d just go with the original leather case. 100 is too steep for the folio, IMO.

What I don’t care for is the lack of microfiber lining on the inside of the flap-like the smart case for the iPad. I fear that scratching would happen, and so don’t like the idea of keeping my credit cards in my phone case.

I received the folio case (taupe) yesterday. I purchased it for an upcoming trip to Disney. I like the convenience (card and cash slot instead of a separate wallet) and the protection that it offers in case the phone drops. It even wakes from sleep when opening like the iPad covers.

You can see and feel the quality of the build and leather and it feels excellent in the hand. $99 is steep, but worth it for what it offers. I recommend it if you're willing to pay that much.

Best Buy was offering a deal on accessories. If you purchased 3 or more I believe you got a 20-25% discount. I purchased a few items and got the Apple Fokio for under $80 with tax. This was a sale going on at the beginning of this month.

I haven’t tied new folio but I know in general they anger me fiddling with moving it so I can read or reply to message or email etc.

This is the most thorough review I've seen so far, maybe it'll help:

TLDR: protects well, still easy to use the rear facing camera (just sliding the cover out of the way, don't need to let it hang and flap around), can hold stuff, leather is good quality.

Yep great vid. I watched it a couple of days ago. I went with the taupe folio.

I know you could probably fold it as you use it... I just see it being more of a nuisance than the benefits of having a screen cover when you have screen protectors that don't impede use in any drastic way but provides as good protection.

Just ordered a black folio case...the more i look at the case, the more i appreciate it. i might have gone for the blue, but black was my only option (had to buy it from my carrier).

the stitched leather on each side of the case is glued, and extends out farther than the formed leather portion that the phone seats into -- this will be some pretty decent protection on the top, right and bottom sides. the left side has the leather hinge, which is also good protection. if a drop happens, it's a 50/50 shot as to whether or not the front flap will shield the phone or not (might as well get a glass screen protector).

i had an apple leather case on my iphone 6 and liked it a lot. one of the corners cracked from a drop after a year of use...i was definitely satisfied with it. my phone was completely fine.

i haven't really thought about the "smart" feature of the case (sleep/wake with magnets), but i have a feeling it'll be great. i hope the front flap doesn't flex enough in my pocket to wake up the display often and have an effect on battery life. i guess we'll see. i'm also glad the front flap is flexible since it won't impede the rear camera -- it can be slid out of the way, you don't have to let it dangle while taking pictures.

I feel it’s more of a situation carry. Meaning it depends on where you are going. Theme parks, gym, or night out. Places that you won’t need to carry more then a few items. For a $100. It’s really not worth it. I bought one because I got it a little cheaper from Best Buy. Apple has good quality cases. So I figured I would get one per iPhone launch.

I love the Folio case but please note there is an issue with the Folio cases and the magnet interfering with the bottom mic on the X. Everytime case is folded back the magnet causes mic to get distorted and muffeled. You can test by making video and talking and the moving case flap back and forth. Apple is aware of this issue and says engineers are working on fix.

Yea went to apple store today and they were unaware of the issue but then when checked with the manager they were aware of the issue. They offered to exchange for another case but that was it so far. So we will wait and see if a fix comes out

I bought the blue folio last week and have been using it since then. The leather is supple and very soft to the touch, and it will sit fully closed with three cards and a number of notes. When fully loaded it doesn’t seem particularly bulky and fits into pockets quite easily. I haven’t noticed any issue with sound quality, or at least no one I’ve spoken to using the phone has commented on it. My only slight gripe is that it is a lighter shade of blue than shown in the pictures in Apple’s site, but I imagine that it will darken down over time. Not cheap, but better than any folio case, including Vaja, that I have tried with previous iPhones. So yes, I think it’s worth the money.

Do you have problem with the microphone issue?

Nah not worth it i tried it for 10 day n return.. at 149 aud i can buy two keather case from apple haha. Especially since im not using aplcare i need a case that is solid on all sides. To about 1m drop range

I use Apple gear since 1986 and this particular Leather Folio is the first Apple product which does NOT meet my expectations :( Mine is in black.

- leather is too thin (feels like paper) to give 100% protection
- leather does not smell like leather; same as with leather Apple Watch bands and covers.
- the credit card divider is not made of leather at all
- cover is flimsy and wobbling over the front, putting the screen on/off
- Folio cases are muffling sound https://discussions.apple.com/message/32529435#32529435

I definitely regret this purchase and consider buying a black Twelve South Journal :)

My husband used one for a few days and hated it. It's flimsy and not very leather-like, in his (and my) opinion. It also has a wide spine and doesn't bend back to flat easily for use, which is the main issue with the microphone. We ordered a Torro case after the Apple folio case didn't work out (which turned out to be great), and they included a card in the box that says that if the cover when folded back does not lie flat against the other side, this creates the microphone issue. Apparently, even a couple millimeters can cause the problem. I can attest to the issue with the Apple folio case as we were sitting in the living room last week and did not hear the ring of my husband's phone as the cover was bent back but not far enough, apparently, and muffled the sound. He also had had numerous people telling him in the days before that the sound quality of his calls was terrible. When he switched to the different, better-designed case, it was back to normal.

IMO, Apple did a terrible job with this folio case. I would put it in the category of the current 10.5-inch Apple iPad leather cover, significantly cheaper-feeling than in the past. It's definitely not the reliable Apple quality we've all been used to over the years. I really don't know what they're thinking with this overpriced junk that's been slipping into the supply chain, but that's just my own opinion. There are better folio cases for less than $99 is what I'm saying. ;)

Does anyone know if there are good ones at AliExpress that looks like the Original? With Logo etc.?

Just checking in on how the well the folio cases are holding up to daily use ? Is this also your daily case ?
