IMO 3 to 4 meh now the 5 were probably talking some real noticeable differences depending on whats in it
Obviously.
Although in terms of longevity and top end performance, 3 to 4 was not "meh". And that's from long term personal experience.

Exactly. Oh make no mistake about it there are TONS of folks out there that would want it to save on money and for the reasons you listed this iPad would be fine another couple years. If I had not won some extra cash at the casino last week I would have been perfectly fine keeping my 3rd gen and not even look at getting a new one. What do you plan to use the iPad for? If it's basic internet, email, facebook, videos; the iPad 3 will do for a couple of years. I have an iPad 3 serving that very purpose on my bedside - only that it is still on iOS 5.1. It works as well as it did on the day I purchased it. Since it performs all the functions I expect of it, I have no plans to upgrade to newer OS's which will slow it down.
Is the iPad 3 a good buy for the long run. How many iOS updates will it approx get ?
Or get the ipad 4. Why wait?
