lol those people who have issues must be zombies. They can't bare heat nor can they go to sleep. lolz

[if you are offended, i'm just joking. If you are not offended, I am not joking]

The ridiculous time to charge the battery isn't so bad when the battery lasts you 4-5 days with moderate use

I find the new iPad completely delightful. And I'm not exactly a lite user (see my signature).

That said, and as i've commented, I don't find it a must-upgrade for most owners of the ipad2. Since you're buying your first, I'd get the New if you can swing the $100 increment. If not, or if it'll help you sleep better, get the 2. It's still a phenomenal device. Better than most current android tablets IMHO.

Yes, the iPad 3 sucks, its the worst product ever conceived or built by man, 15 million purchasers of it are psychotic fools who've wasted their money, its best use is a paperweight in the windy city, etc...

Can there be a filter to close/delete idiotic threads like this?

I have iPad 1 and am considering to upgrade. Is it worth it compared to the iPad 1? The battery and heat issues seems to bit deterring...

My wife never had any interest in an iPad. I gave her my iPad 1 when I got the new one.

She was pretty happy for a few days, but she picked mine up to check the weather one day and now she's dissatisfied and wanting an upgrade.

I upgraded from the iPad 1 to the iPad 3. The upgrade is very much worth it in my opinion. I have not had any battery or heat issues. The battery does take longer to charge but it has not been an issue. The battery last me all day and into the night. When I go to bed I put it on charge and by the next morning it's ready to go again. As for the heat, I have no clue about that. My iPad runs as cool as my iPad 1 did.

The speed of the 3 over the 1, the ram upgrade, and the new screen make it all worth it. If you're on the fence, find a store that you can return it to if you're unhappy. No one can decide whether youre going to be satisfied with the purchase or not. Try it for yourself and make your own choice.

How is it a better value? If it was 299 you could argue that but at 399 it is a waste of money. Seeing you can get the new ipad for 100$ more.

It's all a matter of personal opinion.
Friendly reminder, this is a forum of public opinion.

I am not that impressed with the fact that Apple failed to mitigate the heating issue the iPad 3 demonstrates, nor does the display live up to all the hype.

Sure, it's improved, yet it's only a hi-res display. Lots of other brands of laptops offer these. It's nothing new.

At the price point iPad 2 is a better value.

some people who don't know how to use it properly
This statement is positively hilarious :)

Then name a few notebooks with as many pixels as the new iPad, or anything cloose the PPI, if it's old hat.

First, if you actually read all the posts instead of focusing on the rumor-mongering ones, you'd know that the so-called battery and heat issues are way overblown and/or on-existent.

I don't understand why people can't seem to read anything but the crap posted here and completely skim over the positive posts.

If reports are true that the screen is a secondary choice over a better, brighter and thinner Sharp screen, or that this ipad is a crossover release (some sort of test)...then yes its a POS.

Hi guys,

i do not have money to gamble so i want to be sure if its worth going for the iPad 3.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

NO, iPad 3ed Gen is a GREAT machine!

1. It does NOT overheat. It will get warm, but nothing to worry about (hold it with "home button" on left side).

2. Charge it at night. It has enough power to last an entire day, and night is a great time to charge anything anyway. ANY tablet with such a massive battery will take the same length of time to charge over USB (USB provides very little power).

3. Look past the hardware. the iOS provides an AWESOME selection of features and QUALITY applications. Then entire package is better, and you are insured free updates for years (many (most?) Android tablets never receive an update).

My experience with it was not good. Battery issues and especially weak wifi no matter where I was. Looking for a new tablet or maybe will try iPad 2. (shrugs shoulder)

I had an iPad 2 and sold it to get the 3. I love it. I have had no overheating issues and the battery charging time does not bother me at all. The screen is awesome, and I wouldn't consider going back to a 2 for an instant!!

Well after my initial problems with an unstable wifi and brown screen, both of which have been sorted (swapped the iPad for a new one fixed the screen issue, and getting a new n-router has solved the wifi issue), I have to say that the iPad 3 is awesome. If screen and picture quality is important there's really no comparison, no other tablet comes close IMO, including earlier versions of the iPad.
Having said this I can't wait for the iPad 4 IF they take some of the weight saving technology and screen technology from the iphone 5, impressive yo say the least. Also, I thought the iPad 3 was fast but the iphone 5 is a whole new level of fast.

I edited my original post mainly because I have been having iPad issues lately but I fixed everything and it really is a solid and useful machine

I have a 64gb ipad3 and I love it, the screen is much sharper than my ipad2 (which i still have) and for general stuff like browsing and watching catchup tv or films it gets more use than my mac

No complaints on my iPad 3 either. I had the iPad 1 and 2 before it.

The screen really is killer, though. Just run any retina-supporting app on it and it's hard to go back. It's, by far, the highest resolution and clearest display in my house.
