Bought the iPad 4 with 32gb/LTE on a road trip earlier this summer. The old iPad 2 was never even a consideration. Its obviously obsolete, with the 30 pin connector and half the ram.

The battery life might be less than the older iPad 2, but it kept up with my use in the backseat, playing games and watching videos. coming from an iPad 1, its at least on par battery wise, or better. It gets hot, it does. Never quit on me though, not even when i had it by the pool in soaring heat. (south of Spain, so it was quite hot)

Coming from no retina to a retina screen, and reading a lot of PDF files. This is a whole new experience

If i were looking to upgrade now however, I'd wait for the 5
