Even the iPad 3 was a good enough reason to upgrade. The iPad Air is a like a quantum leap over the iPad 2.

I think this really comes down to how disposable your cash is right now.

IMHO.... If you wait another 6 months apple will probably do a spec bump on the iPad air, possibly integrating an updated chip or increasing memory size... Could be worth the wait if your still fine with the ipad2 .

So should I go for the 5S or mini retina? I want one out of the 3 :)

I currently have an iPad 2 which was the thinnest and lightest full size iPad prior to the iPad Air. I'm considering an upgrade to the iPad Air primarily due to the retina display and performance issues but I just want to know if the difference in weight is noticeable in day to use since I couldn't tell that much of a difference in the store. I'm also hesitant to upgrade because while my iPad 2 isn't the gaming monster it once was, it's still fast enough to keep up with iOS 7 at a decent pace, and the fact that Apple still sells the iPad 2 means that I'll be getting software upgrades for the foreseeable future. Because of this, and the fact that the next iPad will probably include the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, I'm hesitant about the upgrade.

TLDR: Are the size, performance, camera, and screen gains over the iPad 2 large enough to justify an upgrade from an iPad 2 that doesn't scream, but still runs perfectly fine.

I own both, my son is using my 3 years old ipad2 now. It is technically obsolete iPad in compare to Air but still does whatever he likes to do well. Retina and size are biggest points to me. Speed is important but second in place.

I traded my iPad 2, so not quite the dilemma you're experiencing, however from watching youtube videos I think the upgrade will be significant for me. I held off replacing the iPad because I was waiting for the Mini's release, but due to reviews noting slightly inferior screen, I am back on the fence.

Regardless of my iPad choice, I am certain that it's going to be a huge improvement over the screen on the iPad 2.
