If you need to confirm, I'm sure someone will a selection of iPads will take some photos sooner or later.
Lol **** this forum. Where is the manner anymore ? I'm out of here.

The quality of forum users and posts has declined considerably and I blame an almost complete lack of moderation. Too many snarky, non-constructive posts seem to flood any thread that takes a critical view of some device, app, etc.

There are a few users in particular who consistently mock and dismiss any concerns about product quality (e.g., making childish jokes about the use of the - completely accurate - term "gamut", using the tired "OCD-Just Live With It" mantra, etc.).

They dismiss yellow tint complaints as "a few complainers among millions of satisfied owners" despite that fact that you can Google "iPad yellow tint" and find thousands upon thousands of complaints dating back to the original iPad. Not to mention that many senior, long-standing MR members corroborate the same complaints.

Simple fact: The iPad Mini display is above-average but it is not a smaller version of the Air model. It has different panel characteristics and the most noticeable difference is the range of reproducible color...you know...gamut. Is it a big deal? No. It is real and of concern to some? Yes.

From what i've read, it seems similar to the issues the first iPad Mini suffered from.

Duller colours, less contrast etc etc. To sum it up in a word I would say MUTED.

The Air display is more vibrant and accurate.

However, if you don't have them side by side to compare, you would find it hard to complain about the Retina Mini display.

This explains it. If I didn't have the Air to compare, the mini would be fine. There definitely is a difference.

I think the problem at the moment is you CAN'T go to a store and look for yourself. You have to order blind. There aren't any on display anywhere I don't believe.

But you also don't "have" to buy one immediately, do you?

I ordered blindly (and also picked one up in the store yesterday) not really caring because I was certain I'd love it. And it looks great.

If anyone is that concerned and wants to see one first, I guess the choice is just to wait until they're on display. In fact, that would be a better option than buying one and returning it immediately because of something they read on macrumors is now coloring (no pun intended) their perception of the actual device and preventing them from just using and enjoying it.

You can also reserve for collection and inspect it when you collect it in store. If it is not suitable then just return it there and then. i checked mine over in store and the screen is excellent!

The screen really is excellent. Like others have said, it seems a bit more natural, where I thought the Air was a little overblown in it's saturation. Honestly, it makes the "interesting" colors of some of the iOS 7 icons less annoying. (I'm looking at YOU boring FaceTime icon)

Sure you can. Apple stores have them. Other than that there is little different from ordering "blind" and using anecdotal Internet stories to base your purchase on. Bottom line most retailers are on holiday return policy now so little risk of just ordering and seeing if you like what you get.

Screen is less saturated than the Ipad

I picked up the retina mini last night. Next to the ipad 4 retina which I own, the colors are definitely less saturated and the screen a little less bright. The first thing I did was try to increase the brightness, which I found already was 100%. I am just so used to the ipad 4. I am a pro photographer and bought the mini to display my images. I always felt the full size ipad's colors are too saturated and the mini matches the color of my original edited images. I am selling the ipad and keeping my mini. This retina mini is the ultimate device to show off my pictures. Slips right into my inside jacket pocket. I have waited for something like this for years.
