cell phone carriers perceive your ipad with its bigger screen will generate more data charges then phones with smaller screens, and this is why some carriers like t-mobile do not want you putting voice sims in ipads.

i have owned iPads dating back to the original cellular ipad. i never in my life have owned a wifi only ipad. and this is not the first time i could not put a voice sim in an ipad. perhaps the cellular companies are more flexible now , and i didn't get the memo

Yes, perhaps you didn't get the memo. I do it on Verizon all of the time.

AT&T has go phone sims. they are a voice sim that does not work on iPads either. if you insert an AT&T go phone sim in an ipad, it will not even connect to the cell tower. its a useless brick. i tried this sim card myself. luckily fry's electronics allowed me to return it because it was already opened.

and the funny thing is they have this special sold separately AT&T go phone sim that costs $15 that is specifically for the ipad 3 or the original ipad mini 1.

AT&T claims that no other ipad will work with this sim

i asked AT&T several times whats the deal here with this sim?? , why are you charging people $15 for a sim card and only limiting to these two iPads??? , when i can just go into any AT&T store and get a free sim card for any cellular enabled ipad i have ???

they never responded to me. they censored my questions. i got an email back saying i was muted.

i think they are charging you $15 so you can pay cash for your ipad plan

so i would say verizon is the exception here.

Exception or not your statement was a blanket no you can't do it, and that's clearly not the case.

It also works with Cricket SIMs so I suspect there are other "exceptions" as well.

cricket is fairly recent. they were a cdma carrier 2 years ago.. the only reason they changed their rules is because AT&T bought them

verizon just recently white listed all iPhone 6 phones , but verizon and sprint don't seem to want to activate my a1687 unlocked 6s+

what verizon giveth, verizon taketh

Hi,

I have a question and hope you guys can help me out with this. If I buy an iPad Pro 9.7 in UK, which is officially described as simlocked to O2 UK, will I still be able to use it with my Telekom data simcard?

Best regards,
Kai
