There's generally two types of people who post in forums like this the majority of the time. Those looking to upgrade...and those who have upgraded and are looking to complain and find others to complain along side. You see negativity because that's the easiest thing to talk about. As you see...when someone does ask for genuine positive reactions to the new product...the people who are actually not complaining and are satisfied with the product (or those who are complaining but who ARE actually mostly satisfied) come out of the woodwork.

I'm of the former group...owner of the 3G looking to upgrade. The negativity didn't dissuade me from placing my order because I know if it were really a serious widespread issue...it would be talked about a heck of a lot more...and Apple probably would have reacted on a large scale (ie recall) rather than taking them on a case by case basis.

Thanks. Once again confident that iPhone 3GS is for me. Actually I'm really excited by it because I've looked into Nokia's Symbian based phones and other Windows Mobile based phones and I felt really uncomfortable using them. Yet, I've had about 15 minutes with an iPhone (it's a friends iPhone 3G) and I felt that I wanted it, no craved it instantly. I loved the design, the interface the feel of the phone and that I was able to play my music collection on it and expand the iPhone with some ingenious apps.

So on friday, I'm going to log on to the Apple (Australia) web site and place an order for my iPhone 3GS - 16GB Black. Very excited. Thanks for your posts MacRumorians! :)

I am far from an apple fan boy. the phones has its flaws but none should be considered a show stopper.
I have ahd an iphone for over a year. Its become a necessity (material necessity) in my routine. I very rarely check my email on a computer anymore.
My son has a 32Gs now and loves it.
My wife has a touch and loves it. I know my wifes next phone will be an iphone to replace her touch and cell phone.

get it, enjoy it, and come back and tell us how much you like it. ;)

I hope I'm not acting like a fan boy. Thing is, I've been using what are quite honestly dull HP/Dell boxes with Windows since Windows 95 and now I honestly feel excited about technology again - since discovering Apple. So I hope I'm not too zealous but sometimes I find it hard to contain my happiness that there is a company - Apple, and that it does make really attractive shiny happy gadgets - that work as I'd expect.

Wow - quite a rant huh? :)

Will post pictures of my new iPhone when it arrives - counting down the days until I can afford to order it first though.

Wasn't implying you came across as a fanboy.
Sorry if I implied that.

Horrible product...no one is buying them...and every owner has replaced the phone 3 or 4 times...if you value your life/sanity/first born child - stay away from the 3GS!!!

Mine is fine, don't listen to this type of thing. Honestly I
have been comparing my 3gs with my old 3g and it's better in every way.

Battery life is significantly better. Just make sure push is off etc. I've been testing this with back to back trials and the 3gs will give you hours more life.

It's a hell of a lot faster. No more needs to be said.

It's far far louder.

The camera is it's biggest asset. I can leave my 8mp panasonic(yes that good and not just as a macro camera) at home and video is good enough to take a decent video which can be watched on a full size TV. Just make sure light levels are good though it's not good iniw light.

Wifi seems faster.

Maps with the compass is excellent.

I would say the s is how the iPhone should have been.

And why worry anyway if these faults are true which I doubt or they have been exagerrated just take it back and apple will give you a new one. Don't expect nokis or palm to be so forthcoming.

Honestly I would reccommend my wife my prents ANYONE to get one.

And yes I am an unashamed apple fan boy. Why? Because apple deliver products like the 3gS.
It's a superb product - honestly.

I've got one and I absolutely love it, I don't see any flaws. But then again, I'm not scrutinizing it's every move (??). Optus are awesome and I get good reception everywhere, except on the train underground in Town Hall station or in my school library. Otherwise, it's awesome and if you're not that picky, not that there is ANYTHING wrong with it, don't worry!

I actually read a story of a guy thinking his screen glass was too small for the phone and that it was cutting his fingers off because it was .5mm off. When I got my phone, I looked at it and you can hardly tell unless you're staring at it and once you get a cover for it it completely goes! There isn't even a gap!

Hope I kinda helped.
