You are all wrong. The best designed 'phone' to date has been the Motorola RAZR V3. ;)

Nope, not even close IMO. The 4 series is still the GOAT. It was the first iPhone that made me go "holy ****, I actually want an iPhone"

Although I updated to the 6, I still think my i5 Black/Slate was the best design of them all. Still looks beautiful and no color loss or scratches. Always had it in a case w/screen protector.

No one who has spent hundreds of dollars on a newer phone is going to agree with you. It will just bring their purchase decision smarts to question and no one likes to admit anything but that they made the best decision ever.

No one with an older phone is going to agree with you. They probably face enough barbs from people about their older devices and have mostly built a strong belief system around the qualities of their phone that has not tempted them to purchase something newer. They are not going to agree with you and shake their self confidence.

I guess the only ones who will probably agree with you are iPhone 5 owners.

But I have an iphone 5s and I agree with the OP, the iphone 5 black is the best design ever in my opinion, it's all black and it has that stealth look.

That was the iPhone 5 for me.

The 4 and 4s made me wait a year to get the 5 because I hated the look so much.

Add in one of those neon bumpers that everyone who seem(s)(ed) to use with the 4 and 4s and you get one fugly looking phone. I won't even get into the hideous monstrosities that the Otterboxes made out of the 4 and 4s.

Just my opinion.

Otterboxes and bumper cases make all phones look naff. Why does the 4/4S look any worse?

That is true. But at the time I was looking to buy the iPhone the 4 and 4s were the current models.

Incidentally, the iPhone 6 and 6+ IMO are fugly all by themselves. There's a business that will replace the 6/6+ case with one of your color choice (they have a range of color choices) though. They offer Matte Black as an option. Seeing that has actually made me reconsider a 6/6+.

I would like the 5s because it's mostly like the 5 (physically). But Apple never offered black on it, just Space Gray.

Here's my perfect iPhone.

iPhone 4s glass back
TouchID
iPhone 6 screen size
iPhone 5s chamfered edge

iPhone 5 launched with iOS 6

The 5/5S was/is beautiful, but the box design has been utilized for 4 years.

Well I thought the Motorola V8 was more beautiful..
But I also think that the 5 series were the most beautiful iPhones till now let's hope that the iPhone 7 looks gorgeous again (6S will be same design)

I say the greatest iphone design yet is the 5/5s. I would've really loved to see the 5s in black. I have the space gray iphone 6 now, but there's times I look at the 5s and realize I do miss the design but the screen size is horrible.

I really wish the 6 had kept the 5/5s design with a bigger screen size. That said I still have grown to like the 6, but it would look better in all black and just like the5/5s

That would be sick. The glass back on the 4S was the defining feature for me and created an incredible design.

Really not impressed w/ the current 6/6+ design. When I first tried one out in the Apple store shortly after launch my first impression upon seeing/holding it was 'cheap'. Felt and looked to me more like something from ToysRUs than the flagship Apple device. My girlfriend has the 6 so I see it everyday and my initial impression hasn't changed.

That's cuz I designed it lulz. Well the thing that makes the 5series so premium looking is the chamfered edge design and the 4series with the glass back. If they incorporate those back, the iPhone line would looks sexy.

The best iphone design hands down is the 4S and 5 series. The 6 series looks horrible and bends. Oh and has a really laggy operating system on them.

iPhone 5 in in black/slate was definitely the best looking iPhone, but the screen size on the iPhone 6 is much better and the rounded glass and case of the iPhone 6 has a much better feel in the hand.

i dunno brah, im a 6+ owner and i have no problem admitting the 5 is goat

I have yet to have a problem with that and I am on my third iPhone 5.

I should be more specific, the bezel on the black and slate model wears away with ease if you choose not to use a case

its still my favourite colour/iphone design combo, followed by the 4/4S black

Problem with the 5/5s' designs was that they were really great to look at, but not so comfortable for day-to-day use. The edges were simply too sharp.

I'd at least split the "GOAT" award into categories:

Most comfortable design: iPhone 3G/3Gs
Most beautiful design: tie between iPhone 4 and iPhone 5s
Most modern design: iPhone 6/Plus

I disagree. I've always liked the way my 5 feels and find it very comfortable to hold and use.

never liked the back of the 5/5S and those ugly glass bits. I prefer those lines on the 6 cuz the rest is the same color at least. also the round edges of the 6 makes it more comfortable to hold

I have to go with the slate black iPhone 5. That thing was absolute perfection. It's really too bad Apple has chosen not to offer a black iPhone since then. I think the 6 would actually trump it in design if it were black.
