Yah seen this, thats why I asked. It's pretty close for some things.

I went from a 5 to 5S, and can't say I see much difference in speed, but I can't think of anything I do on my iPhone that requires more speed. It's not like I run video conversion programs on it! I'm sure the extra speed on the 5S is being put to good use in features like TouchID and burst photo capture, but for most everyday apps, the speed of the 5 was plenty fast enough.

9 million iPhones were sold at launch, with at least 6 million being iPhone 5s(es).

At max, we have maybe 50 folks here complaining about issues with their phones.

That's way, way less than a 1% "failure" rate, and to be expected when you're producing these things on the sort of scale that Apple is.

Well, the true percentage is 50 compared to how many people are reading and participating on the MacRumors iPhone forum, and I would guess that is significantly less than 6 million.

THAT percentage may very well be much more than 1%, but, given that people with problems have more of an incentive to post, and given that we have our share of perfectionists here for whom some very slight things are issues, that's not a good indicator either.

My barometer is the number of negative stories in the "gadget press" about it, and when the worst thing is "too much animation is making me sick" then I agree with your fundamental point that it seems to be a solid product! :)

Love mine. Works great!!

Except for the problem with the gyro/compass/level that most are aware of. It will be fixed via software or I'll swap out for a new phone once they are more readily available.

Ditto.

One huge area that is interesting where the new processor/64-bit memory interface or some combination thereof means enormous speed increases is in loading Infinity Blade III. On the iPhone 5, the game takes well over a minute to load...maybe even two minutes. On the 5S, from launch to gameplay is about 10-15 seconds.

Yah the main reason I am upgrading is because of the touch ID and the camera :) But I betcha those coming from the 4 or 4s are going to be pleasantly surprised.

Oh, yes, definitely. People coming from the 4S or earlier are going to see a significant speed boost.
