I had the iPad and now I have the 6+. In my opinion it is not like the iPad 3. The iPad 3 was just insanely slow compared to the iPad 2. As of now the 6+ is a little sluggish but that has improved with iOS 8.1. I wouldn't worry that much about the 6+.

I have both an iPad 3 and an iPhone 6+. I've never understood the complaints the iPad 3 got. It's worked great since I got it. It's got the latest iOS. If it is running slower in some things, I'm not noticing it.

As far as the 6+ goes, I have not noticed any lag on it. I've had it 2 weeks and it's run great.

Now my iPhone 5 that it just replaced, that one did had some issues....

I own an LTE iPad 3 and iPad Air, an iPhone 5, and an iPhone 6 - all on VZW.

My favorite version of iOS on the first 3 devices was 7.1.2. I'm using 8.1B2 on all 4 devices now, and it's so much better than 8.0.2. I held off on updating the iP6 but couldn't take the lag, odd issues like lag and Spotlight not working properly - 8.1B2 makes the iP6 much nicer to use IMO.

I'd planned to wipe and start over with all of them after 8.1 comes out anyway as I wasn't happy with 8.0. iOS 8.1 will make your iP6+ much nicer to use.

I have a couple ipad 3s hanging around for the kids and as the wife's iPad for the country... Never get any complaints other than that they have to use a 30 pin connector, and all their toher devices are now on lightning...

If there is lag, I haven't noticed it. Running 8.1 though.

Does 8.1 improve on 6 Plus lag from 8.0.2?

Are you talking about the 6 or 6 Plus here?

For me it was all about the screen. At the time it was the best around bar none.

this is same stuff we heard about the original 15 rmbp. I have it and ironically as time past it seemed to run smoother and on yosemite of all things. This seems to run contrast with the ipad in terms of upgrading OS though.

i have an ipad 3 with animations disabled and it lags a bit on 8.0.2..how did you get the 1b?

I enjoyed my ipad 3 when i had it, but it was also my first ipad. I had nothin to compare it to but my 4s. I sold my 3 for an ipad air which i liked alot, but now have sold for my retina mini which i LOVE!!!

My mind is made up! 6+ it is!! Ive waited years for a huge screen on my favorite phone ever. I greatly appreciate everyone's replies!!

Now to give my 5s back to att on next and maybe in a month ill be lucky enough to find a 6+ in a store.

The 2013 iPad Air and the retina iPad mini have a resolution of 2048 x 1536, which is much higher than 1920 x 1080 of the iPhone 6 Plus, and higher than the 3x resolution of 2208 x 1242, and the A7 handles it fine. Therefore there won't be any problem for the A8 with even stronger CPU and GPU performances to handle the iPhone 6 Plus.

Works fine for me. It even let me add a new tab, zoom into the A8X Chip, take a screenshot, go back to this tab, and attach the image in my reply (which opens up yet another tab to manage attachments). All with 1GB of RAM.

I'm zooming in the A8X chip on the first image and not the second one cropped to it. Not that it should make a difference. This is the desktop site not mobile. It's still crashing tonight.

Same here, and I have a 5s. No reloading or crashing.

It doesn't crash on my 5S either. That's the problem.

7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 8.0, 8.0.2, 8.1... The software update brigade will soon run out of numbers. I think with the pattern since iOS 7, Apple will do what minimum it needs to ship an iOS out in an as-is working condition. The days of Apple meticulously spending time to "optimize" the OS are done. Heck these days we would be lucky if an update does not brick my device!
actually it was 7.0, 7.0.2, 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.0.4, 7.0.5, 7.0.6, 7.1, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 8.0, 8.0.1, 8.0.2.

So apple pushes out plenty of updates to try to fix issues and make iOS smoother...

What lag. Can some one post a scenario where this "lag" happens. Mine runs super fast.. Never seen any lag.

I have an iPad 3, abd a 4s which I just upgraded to a regular iPhone 6 (not plus). With the way people talk, you'd expect the 3 to be borderline unusable. Personally I think it's the opposite.

The ipad3 thing IMHO was (is) a combination of two things. First, the graphics engine could have been better for the screen resolution, and this was evident more in the more graphics intensive games. Second, there's an echo chamber effect on such things; once enough people claim an issue exists it tends to feed on itself as "everyone's heard that..." without regard for the reality that for most people's use the ipad3 was perfectly fine for what it was. (remind you of anything? :) )

Yes the 4 was better and the Air topped even that, but unless graphics intensive games are important to you the 3 was perfectly fine.

Totally agree!

Hair-gate? As in someone's strand of hair lodged in the screen or maybe camera lens? Seriously? :p

Hair gate was people mentioning their hair gets caught in between the phone's screen and the body of the phone (the seam).

Reports of hair pulling are rampant! iPhone 6 users are experiencing iPhone Alopecia...

OH WOW! I hadn't read about this…LOL! Alopecia a symptom of iPhone hair-gate. Thank the FDA for passing Propecia, the treatment drug.

I did own the ipad 3, LOL... I really want to buy the 6+, but do you think its "lag" will be resolved with software updates? Im just scared to buy it because of ppl saying it lags. Im really particular with my phones speed, i hate waiting for anythingggg.

Should i forget the 6+ and get the 6 for a smoother experience? Or do you think the 6+ will get ironed out. Any help appreciated guys, thank you.

?? What none smoothness issues are you talking about? I don' thave any issues.
