What wasn't leaked? Every one of the ten main features were known about in advance.
Can't say I've seen much in the way of leaks/discussion (short of just speculation that has been around for a long time for all kinds of things and is different than actual leaks or something of that sort) about some things like the updated home button or stereo speakers, for example.

I wasn't expecting the Quad Core, which is similar to how many Android CPUs have been developed before.

Home button: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/08/08/iphone-7-and-7-plus-to-feature-pressure-sensitive-home-button/
Stereo speaker behind receiver (6th bullet point): https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/03/iphone-7-5-colors-ipx7-12mp-cameras/

It's a solid update, but there were absolutely zero surprises.

New camera design seems very promising. I like the non-mechanical home button. Mario is a bonus :) That could be fun. Stereo speakers. Water resistant. A lot of plusses in the iPhone 7.

For me it's very close to the rumours I had seen prior to launch, therefore rather disappointing, but in a positive way.
So are you decided on whether to get the 6S OR 7?

The updated home button and stereo speakers were leaked months ago .Stop beating around the bush here.Everything that was worth knowing was known in advance unless you care about Mario or watch bands

If they would just get a better screen omg, like the screen is great don't get me wrong, but imagine a 4K super retina hd (like) display.

So the details of A10 were known? Is RAM still something that is known even now? The details of the front camera were known? Details of what the dual camera will result in (what kind of zoom, etc.)? Ability to edit Live Photos was known? The AirPod details were known? What accessories the phone will come with were known? But I guess these things aren't "worth knowing" probably, right?

Honestly (some) people only really care about design/specs. Everything else isn't important enough. Accessories? Who cares about those lol

The new dual camera on the rear, can they both not be used on launch? Someone mentioned to me that feature will come in a later update?

Well, whatever some people might or might not care about doesn't really change what was "known" (as in simply supposed) and what wasn't.

(1) You do realize that the headphone jack is **never** coming back to an iPhone, right? - So, what you're essentially saying is that you'll never buy another iPhone again. Which I can respect, except that...
(2) You do realize that the headphone jack **will** soon disappear from all other major smartphones, right?
(3) You do realize that the only "inconvenience" the lack of a headphone jack presents is that of not being able to, well, use a headphone jack, right? - I get it, you can't charge the phone at the same time (even though I've never done both at once). At least, not yet. There will be adapters, if there aren't already.
1. Probably true, which means that my current iPhone will likely be my last.
2. That isn't necessarily true, but if it is none of them will use lightning, they will all standardize on USB C.
3. Not being able to use one set of headphones across all devices is a major inconvenience, and if the 3.5mm jack does go away at least other manufacturers will standardize on USB C which will be able to be used on most newer computers well before that happens.

It exceeded my expectations. The two new blacks both look great, I'm a 6s guy so the optical image stabilisation in the 7 is useful, but the thing I'm most excited about is that finally Apple did actually devote a section of the presentation and call out specifically increased battery life as a feature and described some new (to Apple) technology that was specifically targeted at that.

The 2+2 core A10 Fusion with 2 of the cores being super-efficient seems to indicate that Apple has finally realised that lots of its customers really do want better battery life. Bumping video viewing time from 11 to 13 hours is an 18% increase and going from a claimed 11 hours of WiFi Internet browsing on the 6s to a claimed 14 hours on the 7 is a 27% increase. Getting those increases while having to work within the same case size as the 6s is not insignificant and quite an impressive engineering feat.

I'm really hoping this trend of increasing battery life continues and I'm excited about the new 7 & 7s probably more for what it might say about a possible new Apple focus on increasing battery life than for what Apple actually announced for the 7 & 7s yesterday.

I also wonder, with the Airpods now a key part of the Apple experience, whether Apple will be focusing very hard on trying to acquire but more importantly actually bring to market some innovative new battery chemistry as soon as possible because battery life is now important for them to keep the music playing; 5 hours before I have to put Airpods back into the charging case isn't enough for my use. There are lots of contenders out there for technology to double the charge density of rechargeable batteries but getting any of it into a state where mass production is practical is the big issue. Apple is one of the companies in the world with the financial muscle to make it happen if anyone can.

I'm pretty optimistic about the future after yesterday.

56mm f1.8 lens on the 7+, wasn't expecting it, instantly sold, especially after they mentioned RAW.

Some good points, it's a shame usb-c didn't come out sooner so Apple didn't have to move over to lightning, but they did, and the phone+iOS combination is just better than the rest so i'll be sticking with Apple

I thought the rumours were that we wouldn't see water resistance until next year, so yes...it's better than I expected......and if nothing else had changed, I'd still be upgrading my 6 Plus for this feature alone.
