Are you wanting to impress friends and strangers with how your phone looks, versus using it with all its capabilities?

It's not about impressing strangers. For me the iPhone 7 does not offer anything new that I could appreciate day to day using it.

iPhone 4 offered FaceTime, sharper screen etc.

iPhone 5 offered bigger screeen and 4g etc.

iPhone 6 offered bigger screen and Apple Pay etc.

iPhone 7 is just slightly faster. There's no killer feature that makes you want to upgrade.

Sure you can upgrade to the iPhone 7 plus for the dual camera but not everyone wants to carry a phone that big.

Dual camera, dual speakers, water resistance

Then if you don't like it don't buy it.
Simple enough.

Dual camera is plus size iPhone only. Not everyone wants a phone that size.

Water resistance is pointless as it's not covered under warranty.

Dual speakers are pointless on a phone

Dual speakers are nice to have. I wouldn't call it pointless.
I like that feature better than water resistance.

I agree which is exactly why I didn't buy it. But it's annoys me that people are quick to assume people don't like the iPhone 7 because they can't show it off.

I was just merely pointing maybe people don't want to upgrade to it because there's no stand out must have feature.

I hear you.
To some people showing it off or the looks of it is very important.
To me not that much.
And yes like you said nowadays the improvements every year are marginal and not much of a wow factor.

"Weakest' isn't really the right word. Maybe most boring. It's essentially a 6SS, internal spec boosts but exact same design we've had for a few years (which I personally didn't even like in the 6.) 7S will be the same. That's how they'll get you to pay the 'premium' price for the 8/X model.

Ok maybe I was a bit harsh on the dual speakers. They are nice to have but I wouldn't say a must have feature.

At the same time various kinds of other features aren't really must have for all kind of people either.

Yeah I understand my opinion won't apply to everyone but compared to previous numbered iPhone upgrades, the 7 (in my opinion) has a weaker must have list compared to the 4, 5 and 6.

Weakest in terms of smallest upgrade relative to previous model, yes.

It's still the best iPhone ever.

That's good for you, maybe not for the 75% of people who preferred to buy the regular 7.
Probably even more than that. Anyhow it's not a big deal. We don't have to upgrade. For some it's worth it and for others it won't be. For me the 5 was the weakest upgrade. Apart from the .5 inch screen increase there was nothing much going on and the .5 inch screen increase was negligible to me when I was rocking the original galaxy note. The 5 also didn't work with a lot of the 4G bands in the U.K. and there was a bit of a debacle about that at the time.
