Is the IPhone 7 the weakest non S model released in terms of design ??

I wasn't impressed enough with it to upgrade from a 6 so I would perhaps agree it wasn't their strongest release in terms of a jump in features and hardware. Whenever I've compared my 6S to my friends 7 Plus the differences in speed are not obvious and the home button and camera seem to be the only differences.
I actually took the plunge and did the upgrade. To me the differences from a 6s were enough. From a 6 even more so.

Friends of ours went from 6s+ to 7s+. Everybody has their own opinion of what constitutes a worthy upgrade.

Where have I made the iPhone look bad?

If you actually read back through the thread you'll see my original response was to someone saying that people don't like the iPhone 7 because they can't show off a new design.

I then stated the reasons why I think the iPhone 7 is the weakest numbered upgrade compared to previous launches and stated that this was the reason I haven't upgraded, not because of design.

I still fail to see how Taptic Engine, slightly improved camera on non plus iPhone and water resistance are must have life improving features.

FaceTime allowed me to see my family away from home, 4g allowed me to watch videos without buffering on the move and Apple Pay allowed me to pay for things with my phone.

How can you compare that to slight vibrations around the os, stereo sound from speakers 5 inches apart, water resistance which isn't covered under warranty and a slightly clearer camera. I don't know maybe I'm missing something.

Also I've played around with my wife's iPhone 7 previously so I have used one. Even she admits it's hardly any different to her 6 and she only upgraded because she broke her old phone.
My son has the 6 and he chomping at the bit to get the 7. This one is one him though.

The strongest upgrade ever was from the 6->6s imo. One that couldn't even be seen from the outside.

And I just said I took the plunge. To each their own about the value of an update.

I quite agree, we spend our money the way we see fit. This was just the first time I've come around to upgrade and felt a year old device was the better option for me.

The way pricing has jumped in the UK over the past 8 months with Apple I will probably end up with a 7S next time around rather than buying the latest. It's becoming less noticeable these days the performance difference anyway and I've lost the interest in spending £1100 for a mobile phone.

That was actually the smartest choice. I wish I had gotten the 6s Plus instead of my 7 so I would have been able to get the iPhone 8. Now thanks to that 1K price tag on the 32GB iPhone and me spending almost 1k on the 7 Plus I won't be able to get the iPhone 8. The 6S Plus doesn't lack anything notable compared to the lesser amount you pay
I got the 6S in September so I couldn't get the 8 this year anyway. I'll be half way through a 2 year contract by then and I'm not losing £400 just to have a phone that will not be used any differently than the one I have now to be honest. My contract is up in August 2018 so i'll likely get a year old phone again which to think about it will probably be the 8. I'm sure it'll be a lot more affordable than the 8S/9 by then too on contract.

The iPhone 5S is still my favourite design out of any generation.

I second this. I'm having a hard time staying on my recently purchased new 6s. Not because I don't like the 6s but simply because I still have my 5s and liked it so much that I am having a hard time not using it.

Yup.

Give me a 5s with a wider/bigger screen

5C is the weakest non-S model in my opinion.

I would of never even owned an iDevice if it wasn't for the blue 5c honestly.

Now with the jet black, I get the same type of feel and excitement. I really do like this shiny look over the matte metal one.

Dual camera is plus size iPhone only. Not everyone wants a phone that size.

Water resistance is pointless as it's not covered under warranty.

Dual speakers are pointless on a phone

That's good for you, maybe not for the 75% of people who preferred to buy the regular 7.

Sounds like a lot of false subjectivity in these posts. The dual speakers are far from being "Pointless." You have Zero argument there and that's completely anecdotal, because Apple didn't put the stereo speakers as a pointless feature. A lot of people use the stereo speakers and they're actually a really nice advantage.

And where did you come up with a number for 75% preferred by the iPhone 7? Are you referring to the UK, where you're from or all over the world? I Would love to read where you came up with that statistic.

Stop fear mongering about "Pointless features" that are not pointless to begin with.

The 75% probably does refer to the UK, as it is the less popular size from what I've read and general observation. I'll be honest I hate that phone, it's huge lol.

You see, you're saying the 75% as "Probably", which leads me to believe that you're not entirely sure of that either. That other forum member definitively stated as if he knew that. Which is why I asked for source where he obtained that number from. If it's in the UK, that's fine, but I'm curious to where he came up with 75% as a whole.

And the plus model is larger. And it's difficult at first to adapt to the sheer size of it. Once you do, it's really not that bad. The biggest issue I have with it is portability in the pocket. Otherwise, I've adapted really well and appreciate the extra features it has an advantage is.

When compared to the 6s it is. However, when considering other models it's a worthy upgrade. The 6s was already a big advancement. The 7 just added a couple of minor things that people could live without. The removal of the headphone jack was a hostile and alienating move. I still can't understand it. As a 6s owner there was not one compelling or useful reason to upgrade. If I had a a 5s or lower I might have considered it.
I agree with you. I have the 6S Plus - not enough of an upgrade for me. I'm hoping the 7S Plus or 8 comes with abilities to use the Pencil. I love it on the iPad and I know the phone is much smaller but I use it for completing and signing documents. That alone would be worth an upgrade for me.

I'm not sure if it, it's just opinion to me. I don't see too many in the wild or in the corporate world within my field so I wouldn't be surprised.

I have tried to adapt to the size but it doesn't work for me. Not fitting in my pocket comfortably and the difficulty doing certain things one handed rules it out for me. I've got an iPad so don't need a huge phone too.

If you actually bother to use your eyes and read through the thread again you'll notice that I said the speakers were nice to have but to call them stereo when they're 5 inches apart is pointless. It's hardly stereo sound when they are that close together.

With regards to the 75% i'm just basing that on what I see day to day here in the uk. The figure is most likely wrong but the original point still stands that Apple sells more iPhone 7's than 7 plus' therefore the majority of people will miss out on the dual camera.

So to summarise on the comments you quoted me on:

Dual camera - MAJORITY of people do not get this feature as the MAJORITY of people have upgraded to the 7 rather than 7 plus

Water resistance - completely pointless as not covered under warranty

Stereo speakers - nice to have but not a big enough reason to upgrade solely on this and to call them stereo is pointless. Might as well call them dual speakers.

Therefore that's why I think the 7 is a weak upgrade.

Even the standard camera is a KILLER change from even the 6s camera. There's not been a camera upgrade to the iPhone the way the 7 did it.

If we're going by what's personally best for us, then the 3G and the 6 were the weakest. The 6 only gave a bigger screen I already had with more powerful phones. The A8 wasn't that amazing a chip, and my bank didn't even support Apple Pay until this year. The 3G only added 3G and GPS. Meh.

I came from a 5S to a 7, so it was major change for me and very exciting to make the upgrade. I don't understand the point of this whole thread, is it complaining about the way the iPhone 7 looks? To me that's a non-factor because my phone goes into a case the moment I take possession of it. There's never a reason to take it out of the case to examine it's aesthetics. I bought the 7 because I like Apple products and the 7 was the best fit for my needs (couldn't imagine carrying around the ginormous 7+ model, might as well carry my iPad if I wanted that kind of interface for mobile use).

I'm pretty sure the 7 plus has outsold the 7.

For me personally the camera is the only reason I haven't switched from my 6s plus to a smaller 7.

Want to go smaller but want the better camera.

I've seen it stated a few times that the 7 Plus has outsold the normal sized version and I wish I knew who bought them as I very rarely see the bigger phone. Then again there are parts of the world where it's more popular no doubt.

You want to see the millions of people that bought them? You haven't seen that many?
How many iPhone users do you come across in your daily life in your local area?
Is that even comparable to the iPhone global market?
