It's a good phone but at the same time it is nothing revolutionary. FaceID is the only thing that is kinda new as it works better than face recognition unlock in past Android devices. Otherwise it's just an iPhone with reduced bezels and more gesture-oriented controls. Not worth the money at all IMO.

The way you’re talking you’d think that Apple were the first to do facial recognition.

It may not have been the first, but is revolutionary in the way it is implemented and the technology it employs.

Android Central's review put it far ahead of Samsungs facial recognition. No slam on the phones, just face ID.

Is it worth it? Personally I like the home button. I do not like faceid and prefer thumb ID when paying via Apple Pay.
Not sure how or why anyone would need to ask that question after 3 weeks, dozens of threads, and thousands of posts discussing the iPhone X.

People treat this forum like a free soda machine. They rush up to it, mash a button and get what they want, with no regard for the other people using the machine before or after, or what’s inside it.

What ever happened to lurkers?

I hope it is. I will be disappointed if it’s no better than the one on the note 8. My iPhone X is coming in the next week.

. If you love touchID then looks like you’ll be sticking with old tech for awhile.

Disagree. Touch ID is not necessarily considered "Old tech", especially when it's being currently supported on their newest device with the iPhone 8 and will be for years to come yet. It's still very relevant in the world of security and very secure. You're making it sound like as if it's obsolete.

What I am afraid of is Apple in the future no longer producing iPhones with home buttons.
In a few years the home button will be thought of as the iPod classic click wheel. That is, the functionality of both were highly responsible for the success and ease of use of each product but no one will miss it.

No phone is worth $1,000 but that’s what it takes to get the best and this phone is the best.

It’s good but certainly isn’t £1000 good.
No I know, it's £999 for the 64GB version, so it's not £1000. Still, is £700 (sorry, £699, let's be accurate) good for a 64GB iPhone 8 in relative terms? If you're the sort of person who thinks £699 is fine but £999 is too much, perhaps you should reconsider your financial position and buy one of the Chinese knock-offs. If you think £699 is too much, ditto.

As for those afraid that Apple will stop making phones with Touch ID in the future, be afraid. In the very near future all iPhones will use Face ID, and in the longer-term future after that something else will come along that people get to moan about.

First year model of the iPhone X in my opinion it’s not worth it. Wait if you can until next year and most of the teething problems will be over hopefully.

It makes me feel that it's like a kit car. Looks really nice but if it's build on top of a mediocre chassis and engine it's never going to be nice to drive, though everyone will comment on how nice it looks. I sent my iPhone X back for refund this morning. My reason is going to be unpopular on here, but I couldn't believe how bad iOS is. It's like it has been built for a public kiosk where the end user is only allowed to do certain things. I was coming from Android Oreo and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. The relief I felt when the phone was deposited with an Apple rep in the store was huge!

We are treated like children, there are lots of things we are not allowed to do with the hardware we have paid a lot of money for. Unfortunately people like me stay with iOS as its secure and having tried Android really don't like it. I have decided to cut back on my Apple purchases / upgrades though. I will get the new LTE watch when a local carrier supports it. But now I am going to hold on to my old devices until they no longer work, or there comes a new competitor with a great OS, or iOS improves significantly - both performance and functionality.

Just because we, as individuals, don't have everything we want on our iPhones doesn't mean Apple failed. Apple, afaik, has always been uniform with iOS. We knew, or should have known that going in. I rooted all my Androids from the Nexus One. Enjoyed the Custom ROMS from CyanogenMOD, MoDaCo, MIUI and others. When my son tried to persuade me to get an iPhone a few years ago, I never thought I would like them. No battery icon mods, no colorized notification light, etc. I would never go back now. I think the X is a great step forward for Apple and allows for lots of future software improvements. IMHO---:)
