Agreed. Meanwhile, Windows is getting lighter and more fluid. The upcoming Surface 3 only has 2GB RAM in the base model and its plenty snappy enough. I never thought Id utter these words but Apple has really started to go downhill with Jobs gone.

I had seen that 2GB RAM and was surprised, but TBH my 2007 Dell XPS M1330 with 4GB and an archaic C2D runs far better on 8.1 than it ever ran with 7 or XP. It's also incredibly stable.

People are complaining about the surface 3 having 2gb of ram, but the device is at a price point to sway people over to Surface rather than the Air 2. Both devices have 2gb of ram. I think that was Microsoft's thinking at least.

Then consider how you get a full operating system in a device with excellent build quality and the thing sells itself.

I'm not complaining at all - I think it's great that they can get Win 8.1 to run well on 2GB. MS has come a long way - much further than most people realize or give them credit for.

It's hard to guess. But one things certain, the best chance of enjoying a good experience is to avoid this first gen model, the bugs will be very annoying.

Wait a year, give Apple time to correct the issues. The 2016 model will really save you money, sanity and remove your frustrations

I've rushed and bought first gen Apple products and they've all been nightmares. Apple wins big, No matter how many bugs and problems the Apple excuse makers don't care either.

Sadly there is a lot of truth in this statement, equally my need is now...

Q-6

I just bought a MBP 13in base model but I realize I don't use the laptop for heavy use. I have a PC high performance at home for heavy duty.

I'm thinking about the rMB coming in a few days, but I want to know, is it going to be buttery smooth? to run programs like word, web browsing, music, AND BASIC DESIGN LIKE photoshop and inDesign...

It will be absolutely smooth.

Will be smooth for basic tasks like browsing, video streaming, email, MS office, etc. not sure about PS, but at least it should run fine..

This is Apple itll be buttery smooth unless you are doing intense video processing or extreme gaming graphics.
