Don't get me wrong it's a nice watch but is it really worth $799.00?
Samsung Watch 5 pro is going for $450.00 and i's not bad quality.
Soon apple will report earnings and I heard the Ultra is doing that well as well as their Macbook M2 notebooks
and maybe Apple should consider lowering their product prices...just my take.

I think it depends on what your history with the Apple Watch is. I have always bought the stainless steel with a premium band, which has historically been about $749. For $50 more, you get titanium case, larger and brighter screen, vastly improved battery life, improved GPS, additional durability and features…from that perspective it was a no-brainer.

But it’s a significant increase for people who tend to get the aluminum GPS models.

considering that my S7 Ti cost me $849 (and previous models has the same price tag) - the Ultra is worth it.
But, YMMV

The thing has 2x the battery life of my previous Apple Watch. It's titanium. The screen size is nice. Only you can answer if it is worth it to you. To someone with expendable income and a deep love for Apple Watches, it may be. For others who are trying to save to buy a house, or struggling to pay education bills - an $800 Apple Watch may not be worth it.

As someone who loves Apple Watches and has worn them since 2017, I am very happy with my Ultra. I was paying a little more than half that before with my previous Apple Watches. Battery life is a huge plus for me.

I expect Apple to maximize profits as do most businesses regardless of their political affiliations. Just like we do when we try to get the most out of our $. Apple will charge what the market will bear.

but I would wait tell SEP or nov be for you pick up one has we are getting close to that time of year once more

Might be worth it if you are actually using its specialty features. If you aren't, you get the normal watch, although I don't think those are worth the price they're asking for.

Went to get an eye exam yesterday and my eye doctor (female) had on a Ultra watch and it looked so awkward on her wrist ....way to big but she told me she loved it

I had a Ti Edition from Series 5 that was 2 years old, loved how light it was. I wanted Ti again for the case but they didn't make it in the normal watch form factor anymore. Then I learned about the larger battery and screen, since I'm a large American it fits my needs.

It’s price is one of multiple reasons I haven’t bought it. The others being I am not a deep sea diver and the thing is huge! I also don’t think it’s particularly good looking even if it is a smartwatch. Some people think it’s worth it though.

I’m on a tight budget and it was a lot of money, and wish it wasn’t so expensive, but if something happened to my Ultra I would replace it with another one because I find the screen easier to see and interact with. I consider it an essential part of my routine that includes being out and about without a phone and wallet while exercising.

p.s. Buying the Ultra cost me even more money when the usability upgrade experience inspired me to replace my aging iPad, iPhone, and Siri Remote.

I’d pay £500 and no more, just to use as a sports watch. I might pick one up when the ultra 2 comes out, I much prefer the series design for everyday though.

Hell no. It's a joke. The recent realisation that my S7 hit 84% battery health in under 14 months says it's a stupid proposition to invest that much in an AW these days regardless if it's an SE, S7/8, Ultra.

Sold it and gone back to a Casio digital watch.
Probably should never “invest” in almost any technological gadget. They aren’t investments. They are consumer goods - unless it’s an unopened 1st gen iPhone.

Some of them generally are an investment ie they noticeable improve your life and have a return on that investment. My MacBook Pro for example.

The watch, no.

iii. Most importantly, how Apple wants to market the product on the economic scale of supply & demand. Does Apple want this to be a niche product that will be popular with a smaller market or does Apple see this as a mainstream product with the intention of selling a higher quantity?
I very much doubt Apple think the Ultra is a ‘mainstream’ product for two very clear reasons.

1. Most Apple Watch wearers aren’t spending £849 for an Apple Watch and the entry level aluminium watches like the SE and the standard sport model are far model appealing due to value for money. I fall into this camp as for me these are smartwatches at the end of the day and although I could afford an Ultra, I just wouldn’t spend that sort of money on a smartwatch.

2. The Ultra is a very big watch and this alone will limit its appeal to the wider market. You either like a big watch or you don’t.

Omega sells a titanium version of its Seamaster watch, on a titanium mesh bracelet — the "No Time to Die" watch. I would absolutely buy it if I could afford to, despite the fact that all it does is look nice and tell the time. Because it costs NZ$15,000 or more, however, I will not be buying it. Under my current financial circumstances, that watch is not worth the cost.

The Apple Watch Ultra cost me about NZ$1499, or around 10% of what the Omega costs. The Apple Watch Ultra does way more than look nice and tell time; it's essentially a computer on my wrist. The only times it's ever off my wrist is when it's charging or when I'm in the shower (usually these things happen at the same time). Between its fitness features and its connectivity with all of my other devices, including my smart home accessories, the Apple Watch acts as a hub for my digital life. It's the first device I interact with when I wake up, and it's the last one I interact with before I go to sleep.

Because of its utility to me and the fact that I was easily able to afford it, for me the Apple Watch Ultra was definitely worth what it cost.

It is a personal choice a person has to make and since it is offered people will buy it. Personally I find no need to buy it when a series 8 will do everything I want it to do and I went with a 41MM series 8 GPS only aluminum yep the cheapest offered. I am retired and since I spent some coin on the iPhone 14 Pro I scaled back for the watch.

My personal opinion on the matter is not worth a hill of beans in this as the Ultra is the product that I don't need and even want a big clunky albatross on the wrist.
