Or you could save some money and go the the MFP site and get some encouragement from great people that are there.

Weight loss and fitness is all about individual motivation, not a piece of technology.

Who are you to say where I should get my motivation and from whom? I've tried to lose weight and get healthy about 8000 times using "websites" and having groups of people as a support system. That doesn't work for me anywhere near as well as what I've gotten from the Apple Watch coupled with My Fitness Pal on my iPhone.

And while we're on the subject, who are you to say how I should have or shouldn't have spent my money? If you wear an Apple Watch for a week, you will realize it's even more of a personal assistant than an iPhone. Adding in very well integrated fitness features to that equation is a natural fit for me.

This is a very subjective topic. Everyone's mileage will vary. That being said, I don't need advice from anyone on what I "should have" done with my money.

Do you even have a watch? Cause you should know it's different from people posting in a forum. There's something special about setting goals yourself and visualizing all the data in easy to understand rings. The taptic engine nudges you gently, throughout the whole day.

I'm someone who was already very active, going to the gym 4-5 times a week. Now, I've been going *every* day. The days I don't lift, I run, row, use the elliptical or go for a bike ride. I change the move goal depending on how I did the past week and so far have only increased it.

Yeah, you could get this from humans on a forum but there's something special about the light encouragement that comes from having a personal workout buddy with you at all waking hours.

Fair enough. We all have to find out own path to our fitness journey.

If it takes an expensive watch to get you there, more power to you. Hopefully this helps you stick to it and reach your goal.

My point was that MFP as an app and what all you can do if you use log everything you do and get immersed in the community can be pretty powerful. Lots of good people there and lots of great success stories.

What does that even mean? How are you measuring overpriced?
1. "I think it should cost less because of some reasons".
2. "They have way too much inventory, so if they cut the price, they could move more inventory"

For any business, only 2 is relevant.

Not sure why so many people are looking at this from the sellers perspective and not from the buyers perspective. I am a consumer. I do not work for apple nor do I own shares. I only care about my own money.

If I look at my 3 year old iPod nano it looks a lot like the apple watch. :apple: changed the iPod nano apparently because they started working on the watch . The iPod nano came with 16 gb for 149€. My apple watch was 699€ but came with a black plastic strap.

There are FAR more differences between your iPod nano from 3 years ago and your Apple Watch than storage.

I would say the Apple watch is underpriced instead of overpriced. Initial demand of the watch is so high that SS Milanese 2ndary market pricing is at about USD$1100-1200. Realistically, that's a fair price for a decent watch. While it doesn't have mechanical innards, no automatic movement, and is based on digital technology, I think it's a pretty good watch so far as it suits its purpose quite well without being intrusive. It also doesn't feel cheap to me as some of my other watches have a cheap feel to them just because they are designed that way for the budget market. As a tech gadget, it falls a little behind the curve in capability but is currently the best smart watch on the market. If you think about it as a watch first and then a gadget after the fact, it's underpriced for what it is, if you think about it as a gadget first and then a watch, it's an overpriced smart device with premium build and materials. If you got the classic buckle or the leather loop, it will feel overpriced just because of the way the bands were manufactured. The modern buckle leather feels cheap too but the buckle feels awesome. The link bracelet is a mixed bag. While some people will like the way the link bracelet feels, others will hate it. The link bracelet definitely feels lighter and less substantial than other brands but the way it was engineered is flat out awesome. The butterfly clasp and the spacing between the links will feel sharp because they are machined without adding a human element to finishing the clasp. Nice butterfly clasps tend to have softer edges and are finished smoother by hand so I feel that the link bracelet is overpriced just for that factor.

The Edition models are also underpriced IMO since it's pretty much a disposable income show-it-off type of item. The more it costs, the more attractive it will be. They should have had more ornate and more choice like white gold, platinum, and even pave diamonds available for purchase. The rose gold version is pretty nice but the price is set lower than a lot of other rose gold watches on the market. I just don't think Apple is taking the luxury market seriously enough due to offering the edition models at the current prices.

I never once thought it looked plastic and cheap until I read this and I ordered one the other day now I'm sad :(.

A lot more people are happy with the sport than not. Just cause a few people think it looks cheap to them, don't question your decision.

Yeah! You're right! It's about what looks good to me! The aluminum finish reminded me of the iPhone finish. After wearing it, holding it it feels and looks very high quality.

Now your talking! Enjoy your new watch!

I've owned many apple products and never have cared about the box. Just stash away until I sell the item in the future.

That said. Value depends on the market. If an item is selling out its not overpriced. Is it worth the price? That depends on the buyer.
