The casual onlooker will see the raw aluminum back of the white iPhone and that will catch their eye.

Only if someone holds it up vertically or turns it over, unlike the vast majority of the time when it's horizontal.

This is why Apple is pushing the black iPhone 5 as it looks different from all angles.

Well I personally hold my phone between 70 to 90 degrees which is a lot more vertical than horizontal.

I think the "white" iPhone is more silver this year. I've bought the black versions of iPhones for the past two models and never cared for white. I was gonna go for the black iPhone 5 again but saw the white in person--it's really beautiful and that's the one I'll get in a few weeks when they are in stock.

I feel like that is not true at all. You can easily tell the difference between the 4S and 5 in the white.

You and I can because we are familiar with the products. But if we are to believe that regular people can be so easily duped into believing the phone that says "Samsung" on it was an iPhone then do you really believe they can tell which is the iPhone 5 and which is the 4S at first glance?

That's because the black one looks significantly better(and different from other iphones) than the white one which looks basic and boring

I'd say the complete opposite. It's all down to PERSONAL preference.

I admit the black looks significantly better in those heavily photoshopped pics on apple's site. But in every unboxing video and leaked pictures I saw, the white was killing the black.

In person, for me, it's not close. White destroyed it this time around. I'm very happy with my purchase. Had I just gone by what Apple had on their site, I probably would have gone black. Glad I did't
