Have an iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2. Love both devices and really looking forward to IOS 9 (esp notes and split screen) on iPad as will be one step towards it finally replacing my Macbook Air (but thats another debate).
I use both my iPhone and iPad heavily each day for emailing, calendar, browsing web, watching videos/TV, listening to radio/podcasts, document management tasks, reading and remote working. Handoff helps being able to work on things across several devices. iCloud is something I look forward to using more now there is a dedicated app.

I think that there is absolutely a place for it. You can't walk around with a 10" tablet in your pocket. I carry my Nexus 6 everywhere, and it can do everything and more than the iPad Air 2 can do. However, when I am home, or somewhere sitting down and I have access to the iPad, it is better suited to have the larger screen for reading, shopping or watching a movie, sending email.

Just like cars... There are times when you want the sports car and you can use it for most things... but then there are the times you need to go to Home Depot for lumber, or to haul some trash to the landfill and that's when you want the pickup truck...

For my personal taste and uses, I'd flip the question - is there any point in having a 6Plus when you already have an Air 2?
I personally prefer that my phone be smaller and that I use the iPad for viewing lots of content.
Nothing wrong with people having and using both of course, just that my eyes feel a lot better when I view extensive video on the AIR 2, and my pocket feels a lot better when it has a smaller phone in it.

That's not a bad point actually.

Only you can decide that. Personally, I dumped my iPad Air 2 in favor of an iPad Mini 4 to go along with my iPhone 6S Plus.

How long do you run that setup? My primary usecase for Air is to replace my laptop on the go. Really enjoy the logitech keyboard on it, and with iOS9 all the keyboard shortcuts are kicking ass, hence I get a lot out of it.

Not sure would I get the same keyboard experience with mini.

There are decent sized keyboards out for the Mini. You could always just use the Apple keyboard with it too.

I have the LTE Mini, and use it away from the house. However, in no way do I attempt to use it to replace my laptop. I have a keyboard that I use on occasion, but I don't take the keyboard when I leave the house... I mostly use the Mini when watching TV with the wife in the family room... FOR ME, the 10" iPad is too big to carry. I have always preferred the size of the Mini. Obviously, YMMV. But I really don't see the iPad Air 2 as being in any way conflicting with the size of the iPhone 6(s) Plus.

There's still quite a big difference in screen size between the iPad mini 4 and iPhone 6s Plus. Don't forget about the difference in aspect ratios too. That makes a difference in the experience too.

ha well i have all 3

6S Plus
Mini 4
Air 2

handling it ok so far

Like some others who have posted in this thread I had an I phone 6 and a iPad 2. I felt the iPhone six was too small and upgraded to an iPhone 6S plus, I feel the iPhone 6s Plus and the iPad 2 are a good combination.

I am planning on getting an iPad Pro when they are launched.

I'd rephrase the question to, "Is there a point to having an iPad 6+ if you have an iPad mini?" Not for me, anyway. The mini fits in my suit jacket pocket and from there is as accessible as my phone. I don't want a larger phone, as anything that benefits from screen size I do on the mini anyway. On the other hand, the 6+ could not replace my mini, as the phone is too small for reading pdfs comfortably, one of my main uses for the device, plus it lacks some iPad software.

not me either

the mini 4 is great to take to work without it looking obvious and when out and about when going certain places. My air 2 is my ipad which i use at home. The mini 4 will still get use at home if my girlfriend wants to use it. Even if i didn't use the mini 4 if i'm still using it even 4 days a week at work then it's worth it

I had the 6 and the Mini 2. Decided to switch from the 6 to the 6 Plus. 6 Plus and Mini 2 were too close in size for my liking,

This is something that I'm still trying to fathom! The Mini's display area is nearly 2 1/2 times the size of the 6+ (2.31x).! (~30 sq. in. vs. only 13 for the 6+)

That's HUGE! I wonder why people don't see that...

In contrast the Air is only about 1.5x as big as the Mini (45 sq in vs 30), yet we perceive it as a major step up in size.

I'm captivated by the 6+, but it would complement our Mini and Air, not substitute for either!

Any thoughts?
