I agree with posters above re: invert colors.

I use invert colors daily, sometimes when it's not even that dark, in apps like messages, mail... whenever I'm viewing a lot of text on a white background.

While it's annoying that it inverts graphics too, it's a nice trick that avoids straining your eyes.

I highly recommend it. Hopefully soon Apple will allow an option to invert the screen without inverting graphics. I'd probably keep my iPhone in that mode all the time.

Another poster mentioned the app "screen filter" which is for android only and which is a MUST to change the color temp on OLED screens that never seem to get dim enough and can be blinding on the dashboard at night. One of the things I love about iphone is that it uses LCD screens that don't degrade over time (OLED looks HORRIBLE after a few years) and also LCD backlighting in the iPhone can be nice and dim. unfortunately, the 5s screen is 10% brighter than the 5 screen, including when at minimum, which forces me to use my 5 rather than my 5s on the dash for night navigation. I think the software could make the backlighting even dimmer, but Apple Corp. is full of morning persons so they don't really know about the special concerns of us night people.
