I suppose the argument could be made that you could be more productive on Mac if you're more comfortable with OS X. The exact same argument could be made for the user's comfort with Windows over OS X etc

That's the only deciding factor I could think of, other than that there's no real benefit.

They won't

thanks all for the replies. obviously that asus's new g501 gaming notebook is far better than a rMBP now. asus gaming notebooks was not sleek and thin, nor had aluminium case like rMBP's, but now g501 is and it has better display than a rMBP, plus thunderbolt.

i wonder if it would be worth it for waiting new 15" rMBP's. i'd feel regretful if apple will release a base model rMBP with discrete cpu and better display after i purchase an g501. it depends on the price too, if i'd wanted to buy a g501 it will cost me 2000$.

the dGPu will be in the higher end version of the rMBP only.

If gaming is your bag go with that asus, looks pretty damn good apart from windows....

Edited.

Apple may phase out the dGPU

what do you mean by "phase out" ? apple only released base-model macs with dGPU in 2012 and since then it's too expensive to get a mac with a decent gpu.

This "MacBook is not a gaming machine" mantra is just plain wrong.

Yes, there are SOME games that run choppy on this and most laptops.

But there are plenty of games that run awesome even in 2560x1600 mode. C&C and Civ5 are two that come to mind, since I am playing them now.

Yes, the MacBook Pro 13" IS a gaming machine. For most games out there.

There, I said it. :p

Oh no don't get me wrong I agree with you

You can play most games on all the current macbooks to some degree.

I just can't reccomend them over a windows machine for drivers and graphics cards etc etc.

I don't hardly game at all but I love a bit of KOTOR and Planescape on my 13" rMBP myself when the mood takes me...

To me, the mac wins out I terms of the trackpad, and the retina display, but beyond that, as said above, there really is little difference in terms of software ability / features.

If anything, I would say that some elements of windows ui is actually better than osx. Coming from windows, I still can't get out my head the windows way of pressing ALT+(?) to get the menu lists header in focus and being able to navigate them with the keyboard quickly and not needing the mouse to do it. Or using the ALT key to pre-drop the menu list you want and the mouse to move over to it at the same time to the menu. Sure there are shortcuts, but with each app being different, it's too many to remember sometimes.

So mac better myth just isn't there. Today they are very matched overall I think.

There are no longer any real advantages to using a Mac over a PC.

In the 90s, there were a couple of distinct advantages with using a Mac, PageMaker/Quark (WYSIWYG) programs and color management.
